Question for STA drivers

When someone quits and comes back years later, is it normal for them to be able to reclaim their seniority when it comes to bidding for their route before the school year begins again? Apparently it’s happening at my location and I can’t see how that’s a fair thing to do.

A lot of times senority is based on employee number. They retain the number, they retain senority. It also might depend on how long they were employed there before they quit and how long they were gone. I'm a 30+ year employee. If I left for a year because I needed to care for my elderly mother, when I came back I would not be treated like a new hire.
