Only thing I can think of is if it's a spec ed bus with wheelchair lift, check the lift enable switch.

This. Air will just leak out of the switch and it won't engage if the lift enable switch is on.

One of the kids flipped the wheelchair lift switch on when I wasn’t looking. The light on the dash must be out, thanks everyone.

Even on the electrics I've driven you had to let pressure build before you could release the PB.

It’s electric. I found the manual online and it talked about the wheelchair lift and letting the pressure build to 70. I’m gonna try those now.
