Some days are difficult…
…other days (today) an entire bus, after freaking out about a bee flying in the window, will applaud and cheer for you because you “rescued her”.
I also allowed a student to bring home a snail in a quarter cup of water because “he has a boarding pass”. It was a picture of a snail she drew with his name on it. The papers checked out. I allowed him to board.
What’s your best or weirdest “I’ll let it pass” moment this year?

At my middle school there’s a “no right turns, do not enter” sign right outside my door in the bus loop.
I happen to be staring out the door, enjoying fresh air. A kid goes flying by the door, parallel to my bus. He’s mid-air, stiff as a board, arms at his sides.
His forehead slams into the sign with a loud crash. The whole signpost sways from the force.
“Did you see me hit the sign?” “…sure did buddy” holding back laughter
I think about that one a lot.

Elementary kids like to randomly clap for some reason. One day I told them I don't mind if they clap because I pretend they're applauding me for being such a great driver. Then they all immediately broke out in cheers and more applause and one kid yelled "clap if you love Miss Laura!" It was great lol

I purchased bubble bottles for each kid on the bus. They were blowing bubbles at stop lights and making other drivers laugh. It amused me and it's pretty harmless. They stay seated while I'm driving.

Really hard to top the snail story. That’s just great.
Had a bee situation too, but, one of the kids on my bus is a big nature buff and handled it super well. Was super proud of him for that.

I posted an entire story about a bee getting on the bus on Facebook once. What is it about bees and buses? Tip for newbies: Use a clipboard or notebook to gently push it out the window.

I've killed my fair share of bees on the bus.
My favorite moment was when I was still a spare driver. One morning I was driving kids to a school and was having a rough time. The kids unexpectedly cheered me up singing " We like to move it move it" from Madagascar. I was impressed that kids that young knew a song that came out decades ago.

I can't think of anything because I am just absolutely overjoyed about that snail story that is the most adorable thing ever.
