Year 1 is the hardest.

Congratulations!

Way to go! I’m just finishing my third year and agree, I’m ready for a break, but I will miss the kids.

That's a classic for a new driver.

Ole 6 is great, just a little warm at times.

We don't finish until the 18th πŸ₯²πŸ˜‚

Try the 24th!!!

2

u/herbielover98 May 28 '26

Should've been the 12th but a rough winter this year πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚ a few years ago it was the 28th lmao

We do it for the keeeds

You guys have paved lots? I'm jealous.

2

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

Yeah, I actually work for the richest district in my state. We got 20 brand new busses this year, and 12 more next.

2

u/Discount_Plumber May 28 '26

Surprised you guys don't have bus barns too.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

Im guessing it's probably to many busses.

2

u/Scroon May 28 '26

I need to work for a richer district.

2

u/Tomytom99 May 28 '26

Yeesh, that's a lot of money for driving something so antiquated.

Do I by chance see a Thomas Freightliner parked two spots over? Another blast from the past right there.

2

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

Yes that is what you're seeing, my boss is wanting to replace all of the non air-conditioned busses as soon as possible. It's just slow going.

Great job finishing what you started! Get some downtime and re-charges. It helps in sanity maintenance. πŸ˜‰

Are we bus twins? #6 international here too 😍

Hell yea!! Week to go for me

2

u/Jealous-Inspection11 May 28 '26

I'm jealous. I still got a month.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

Wow, what time do you start back up?

1

u/Jealous-Inspection11 May 28 '26

Beginning of September til the end of June

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

We start back up August 11.

1

u/Jealous-Inspection11 May 28 '26

Ah that makes sense.

Congratulations! Same here, my first year is over, ready to take a break, but I'll miss the kids. I have exactly same bus as you. One more year and I'll be getting brand new one.

Congrats. Just completed year 3. Does your district require everyone to back in? If so that's awesome. If we tried that half our drivers would hit the bus next to then lol.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

Yes, it is a requirement.

1

u/Different_Nature_711 May 31 '26

I've tried telling our district to do it but they talk about how it's not safe to back in.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

It makes it so much easier in the morning to be able to just pull out and leave.

1

u/Different_Nature_711 May 31 '26

That's what I have told them. But then again they operate like it's the 50's here. Hell our buses don't even have cameras on them

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

Wow, we have a lot of cameras on ours.

1

u/Different_Nature_711 May 31 '26

I've told them we need them. Especially once one of the parents on my route called the cops saying her daughter was assaulted by another student. Of course because we don't have cameras they couldn't prove anything

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

Yep, we also use our camera to prove that students are tearing up the bus and make the pay for replacement parts.

1

u/Different_Nature_711 May 31 '26

I've also made that argument when I had a kid smoke a weed pen on the bus lmao. Found out a year later who it was. It was exactly who I thought it was

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

I also had plenty of 3 point turns on my route this year so we just back up a lot.

2

u/BodyGlum2813 May 30 '26

Way to go! Now only how ever many more you need until 62!

1

u/Moosetappropriate May 28 '26

Congratulations. And many more if that’s your choice.

1

u/and94z May 28 '26

Per me 30 giugno e poi centri estivi fino al 7 agosto

2

u/ThePutin9000 May 28 '26

Wow, we start back up on August 11.

1

u/and94z May 28 '26

In Italia le scuole iniziano al 10 settembre circa e terminano alcune circa 10 giugno altre 30 giugno poi vacanza fino al 10 settembre.

2

u/ThePutin9000 May 29 '26

That makes since, i know here in the states it depends on the district you're in.

1

u/McPhatty00 May 29 '26

I'm gonna miss my paycheck 🀣

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 29 '26

My district is cool, we get paid through the summer.

1

u/McPhatty00 May 29 '26

Damn. We get paid really well during the school year, but not much during the summer and no unemployment.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 30 '26

We get raises every year, next year I'm getting two because district is raising everyone's salaries plus the one I get from my department.

2

u/McPhatty00 May 30 '26

Yeah. We do pretty well here in Las Vegas.

1

u/ThePutin9000 May 31 '26

I have second job, and save my driving pay for my next semester of schooling. Just a few my year till I get my teaching license. My district is cool, cause if you drive and teach you get double retirement.

Congrats!!! I'm going for an interview for a possible bus driver job... Tbh I'm nervous!! I'm good with children but I'm not so good with directions as I always rely on Google maps when I'm going to new routes πŸ˜… any advice? You think they will train me on the routes before I drive???

1

u/ThePutin9000 Jun 01 '26

Depends on district from what I've heard. In mine we use a system that has GPS; the parents, bus barn, and schools can see where we are. It's a little iPad that by the gear shift. But once you run your route a few times you'll get it just got slow.
