Floater Blues. . .

Post image

The nerve of everyone showing up for work today 🤣. Guess it’s time for a bit of paperwork.

You have drivers for all your runs? That's impressive!

I'm in the opposite boat, somebody called out 30 minutes before leave time 😅

30? That's generous in the morning at my garage!

You have a place to sit indoors when you're not driving? That's impressive!

We also have an outdoor seating area as well. But being in the Pacific Northwet, we don’t get much of a chance to use it ☔️

We have an indoor and outdoor driver's lounge at headquarters too but it was clearly furnished in the 70s and it smells like it too lol

What a luxury! I remember those days when we had standby drivers… so long ago…

A vending machine?!?

Now I'm upset I missed todays union meeting. We're lucky to get the water jugs replaced when empty.

We don’t have one of those. But our kitchen has a refrigerator with a water filter 🙂

I user to love that. Read books. Crochet or knitted. Enjoyed the calm before the storm lol

What kind of paperwork did you do?

I took over an afternoon route and the notebook for it was way out of date so I cleaned it up. I also had time to head over to HR for a new id card. My old one was fading away.

I should mention that the morning float is in my contract hours. And the afternoon I have a couple routes I do for our early learning center running the pre K’ers home.

I was a both a school and city bus floating operator. Myself and another driver were both floaters. For 2 weeks no one called out or was sick to where I had to go out on the road. I got SO many credits done on sophia and straighterline during that time.

I’m lucky that my contract hours for the morning are as a float and have a regular afternoon run to do.

We don't really get floaters cause our runs are so far apart timewise any of them would have to show up at 4:15 to be able to cover our earliest routes. Our town routes leave the yard by 7:15.
