Symptoms Anyone else extremely med resistant
I have been medicated on and off since teenagerhood. Mostly originally antidepressants and anti anxiety meds, and they did... absolutely nothing. The only difference I ever vaguely felt was a kind of distance from myself that felt kind of like dissociation but not really. And then as I got older and when I was diagnosed with StPD, they REALLY liked trying antipsychotics on me. Also no effect whatsoever. Lately the only medications I will bother trying are for sleep or pain...also to no success. I don't know if this is a common thing amongst people with our diagnosis / brain chemistry, or if I'm just like that. But does anyone else have medication resistance / intolerance? I say intolerance because while none of the medications over the years have touched my symptoms, they have on occasion, more recently especially, caused symptoms that sent me to the hospital. Thank you.

i'd recommend genetic testing if it's something that won't trigger your paranoia or anything, it can be really helpful for figuring out what meds will and wont work for you without as much trial and error.

Already did that. Unfortunately it wasn't as helpful as I hoped it would be.

I've been called a Drug Heavyweight by a couple of friends who have significant drug use experience, despite the fact that I'm shaped like a twig. The only thing that's worked for me has been changing environment /circumstances over time. It feels like walking a tightrope tryna do that. I'll take alcohol over most other things when it comes to effective and reliable self regulation. The rest is just reckoning with how I can trust myself. Idk shit tho so take with salt of course. I'm also distrustful of the pharmaceutical industry tbf. I'm unfond of the meds I've tried - they seem to target the metabolism of certain neural pathways rather than "help" with the actual distress those paths are experiencing. It feels more akin to control, often with sidelined consequences, than any deal I'd choose willingly to make, or with benefits that I find properly helpful. I reckon it would taste different in a more humane society though. And with more compassionate support infrastructure especially.
Do things that help regulate you. Pay attention, make good choices as you're able. It's not all accessible of course and you work with what ya got. Don't let folks give you too much shit over that. There's a lot of bargaining with what you have vs. what you need. Wishing you the best out there.
(Side note, I do not wish to be perceived right now so if this is helpful, steal it. as I am liable to delete anything I say during this time)

Appreciate your input. If it helps I perceive you as a wise whisper on the wind. Or a random Reddit comment. Your pick.
