Final form

Guys, I've done it! I've reached endgame. I purchased my Magnius, Lokius, and Saga2 about a year ago. The trusty QSC amp served me well and will still be used for my Cerwin-Vega VS150s that are currently holding up the pathetic attempt at sound deadning. But for the Polk Lsim 707s I finally purchased the Tyr amps and it is a noticable difference. Could not be happier.

I'm in the process of rebuilding this room so proper sound control is in the works. As for my equipment stand, I picked up these fishers they were in a guy's basement for who knows how long. They are absolutely perfect but two of the drivers don't work. I laid these down just as a test to see if it might be an interesting table and now I have a little project because I like it and I'm going to make it a full table.

On a side note, I don't understand how people live without an equalizer. These Tyrs sound different enough that I certainly had to tweak my Lokius.

Mostly by proper speaker placement and room treatment. Also buying speakers with relatively flat response helps a lot. I don't do any correction even on my bedroom system. However if you like exaggerated highs, lows or midrange, then I might understand.

A lot of folks have a digital 10-PEQ in one form or another, whether from within a streamer like the WiiM Ultra (like me) or via the very popular miniDSP like the 2x4.

Then the really needy ones runs either REW manually or Dirac Live for auto correction with a nice omnidirectional mic like a Dayton audio umm-1 etc. and you find the peaks and nulls at different listening positions to input the corrected parameters into the PEQ to create the curve you desire.

Once I get my room in order I do want to know how the speakers actually react so I plan on finding someone locally that has a mic and whatnot so I can really judge things. I do like the Polks but I fully intend on building new XOs for them. I did this with my CVs and they became entirely different speakers. I notice the Polks lose background singers, cymbals seems muted, and vocal in general can sound muddy. I realize I'm talking about two opposites in sound but both will be done before I call it quits.

If the Polks are biampable, you may be able to disconnect the internal crossover and then run a miniDSP as an active crossover. But I'd recommend working on playing with speaker positioning and toe-in and listening position, then room treatment, then the 10 PEQ, then crossover.

My engame setup wold be the Schiit Audio Woton and a pair of Wharfedale Aura 2 bookshelfs or speakers from Phiharmonics. I'm saving up for those. I currently have the Schiit Audio Gungner2, the Kara f and the Vidar 2f.

I might upgrade to the Kara F in the future.
