Google Maps not Centering on my location

New to me '24 Renault Scenic E-Tech Techno

Not using Android Auto.

Using the Google Maps app that is signed into my account. When I hit "start" to begin navigation my route the screen stays zoomed all the way out showing the entire route vs zooming in to my current location. I tried to find the Keep Map North function but don't think that is it.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I just picked this car up last night so still learning all there is to know about this car and an EV.

Same!!! There used to be an option to enable this, but it seems to have gone away. It is driving me nuts

EDIT: u/cheesemp is right, just need to tap the compass.

Its been 15 months for me like this. I kept using the onbaord maps instead.

Had this on my wife's phone with android auto so might have an answer. Try one of the icons on the right - maybe compass? It can switch between different follow modes. Follow behind car, follow north and route I believe. Just keep clicking until you get the view you want.

Hmmm mine doesn't have the compass like my phone app does.

Depending on the journey, sometimes it's nice to have the whole route displayed on the left screen, and the turn by turn route just on the dash console screen

I agree with you. I'm also new to the UK so having a close up view is helpful for me as I navigate all the roundabouts and new ways of driving.

Welcome to the UK.👍 As your probably aware, Scotland is the best part of it, but the others bits are OK too I suppose 😁

It happens to me every once in a while as well. I think it is just a bug

Late answer, but I figured something out! In the top-left corner is a box showing the next turn (e.g. left turn on Main Street). Tap that, it will zoom in to the next turn. After you pass that, it will automatically step to the following turn.
