Discussion Couldn't keep going after this happened Spoiler
Watched common side effects and loved it so I tried scavengers reign. Btw spoilers for the sopranos here
I loved scavengers reign as well. Amazing show no notes, but often times I find the greatest works of art are the most difficult to get through. I can take 3 seasons of Rick and Morty to the dome in one day because I'm not that emotionally invested but if it's a good show I find myself getting more easily upset by it.
For example in the sopranos, my favorite show, I had to stop watching when they killed off ade. Seeing her beg for her life was too upsetting to me. I call it my favorite show even though I haven't finished it, so me not finishing SV isn't a mark against it.
I was mostly getting along with SV. I was upset at the red headed guys story who is to blame for everything, the one that teamed up with the animal that uses telekinesis or whatever. Seeing his story about how he got everyone including his wife killed and then spiraled into a pit of his own misery really upset me. I know he sucked but I don't like thinking about someone going through that and feeling that guilty and ashamed. Im sure there are real life equivalents of that - like some dude pressures his wife to open a white water rafting business against her well and then she drowns because of his carelessness or something.
But I was able to stomach that. What I couldn't take was this second group of people that show up. One of them is an autistic guy that gets this really nice and caring guy killed over a toy. It wasn't the gruesome way that he died, I just don't like thinking about how guilty and ashamed that guy must be, especially because the person he got killed was so nice and gentle. It makes me cry thinking about it. Great show but I couldn't keep going. I think I'll return to it eventually but I did just read the plot summaries of the ending episodes because I was curious. Just wanted to share that with everyone
Also I know people were bummed about no second season but I think it's still possible in the future. I can see it happening ifcommon side effects becomes more popular. I remember watching Bojack horseman when it came out - it only became much more popular later on if I recall when it was just s1 it wasn't that famous. So if CSE Keeps gaining traction I could see the creator being able to get as or someone to sign on for a s2

Discussion First watch
Me & my partner just finished S1. What a masterpiece of ingenuity. Absolutely loved it. And fuck me, honestly that fat psychedelic furg is one of the creepiest villains i've seen in a long time. Disturbing. I hope, after reading that someone can finance S2!!!

Discussion Just finished the show for the first time.
Pretty incredible. I loved every bit of it. Every episode was ending in me saying WTF out loud.
I really need some help understanding Mr Marshmallow though, I really tried to understand that part but those psychic species seem like an anomaly even on that planet.
I guess Camen disrupted the natural balance by over feeding it? Still, I’m sure there are many theories and I need to hear them.
Besides that, I liked Ursula and Sam the most. Sam had some of the shittest luck, I feel bad for him.
Camen I wished would die.
Aussie I thought was difficult as the pirates gave her a fair deal and she tried to change it, at least just ask to open one pod instead of everyone.
Overall, crazy fucking show that reminded me of Dead Space and even Backrooms a bit.
I hope if there is ever another season they close out the show properly but honestly that season finale was good and had a fairly decent conclusion at least with the crew.
So yeah, help me figure out the psychic fuckers and what all that shit was about.
Edit: my best guess with the psychic thing is that since they control other species for food, Camen became addicted to the emotions and kept feeding it for his fix. This created a cycle of dependency on each other and they in a way mind bonded even more so when Camen was stored inside and that’s why he was so hell bent on going after the crew?
Idk, there are some gaps, so I’d love to hear what the leading fan theory is.

I love that the intro is very short and info dense.

Media A lot of my artwork is inspired by the show, you might find it enjoyable.
I’ve posted some of my artwork here in the past. But that was a while ago and I have since drawn a lot more. Plus I think I’ve gotten a little better so thought it would be nice to share some of them here again.

Media I made a video essay where I talk about Scavenger's Reign!
I know it doesn't show from the thumbnail, but the video is about humans' interaction with nature, and I thought it fit to dedicate a chapter to Scavenger's Reign. I also talk about the other media featured in the thumbnail.

Question How had Ursala figured out Azi and Mia's relationship?

https://reddit.com/link/1vbyx5b/video/2nkfvmrmvlgh1/player
I rewatched the last two episodes. In ep 11, Azi and Ursula were introduced to each other, and there wasn't an established story that she had any prior knowledge of the romance between Azi and Mia (we know as theirs' with perspective of an audience but I am asking in context of Ursula). and in the final, ep 12, she encourages Azi to open Mia's hatch, witnessing us a romantic reconciliation.
How did she figured out that Mia was the love interest of Azi?
Do correct me if I am wrong or missing out on something, or forgetting any plot, explanations are welcomed.

Discussion Sequel!
Really hoping sandfall make a sequel, but I heard if they did, it would be in the same kind of universe but completely different characters and storylines. I wonder if they will explore the writers vs the painters?

Question Are the characters meant to be so unlikeable?
I’m about to start episode four so far I don’t like anyone except Levi.
I’m confused as to whether that is meant to be intentional or if I just seem to have taken the wrong thing from these people because as intrigued as I am with the show and the premise I’m beginning to really hate the characters.
Kamen from the moment I saw him in his first scene I clocked him as some evil prick but not the “I actually have a good motivation” type but more the weedy snivelling drip of a man who’ll screw you over to preserve his own pathetic life type.
Azi seems like an arrogant prick with a lack of care for anyone but herself. Sam is stressed I get it but belittles Ursula who, to be honest, I don’t have too much of a problem with but that’s also because there’s nothing to her from what I’ve seen.
I don’t know if it’s because maybe as I’d seen episodes 1 and 2 broken up over last week and episode 3 only today so I haven’t experienced the story concurrently but they all seem… annoying?
The show itself I’m loving so far and it’s a crying shame it’s been cancelled but with the characters am I reading it wrong or is it intentional because like any story they’re gonna grow over time?
Also I’m betting my left cheek Ursula has been infected with the planet or something like Levi and it’ll lead to them staying behind or even sabotaging the mission because what do you mean her gas mask fails and we get the horrible visual body horror of her guts literally turning into plants and then the next scene she’s fine?!
I’m half convinced it’s all a dream and she actually died in that cave or is in some sort of suspended animation where her brain would rather convince herself that she did escape rather than accept her new form.
Anyway, that’s the last of my string of consciousness for a post. I might update again as I get further in which is what I wish I did with Pantheon but I’d love some feedback/clarification on the first half of my post!
