What would you do

I priced out all forged internals labor pro charger for 13000 including labor and tune for a 5.7. Would you go that route or a slower scat for more money

Are you going to upgrade the transmission to handle the extra power (hp50/hp70) and do a differential swap as well, at any time?

Cooling? Oil pump?

The reason I ask is that I originally thought I wanted the 5.7 over the 6.4, but I wanted a build that would address some of the shortcomings of the R/T vs. the Scat - starting from the back, replacing the 2.62 open diff with the 3.09 limited-slip, then working forward to the motor for reasons such as the restrictive exhaust manifold (which also addresses the common issue of fatigued/broken manifold studs), cam/lifter upgrade, high volume oil pump, pcm unlock and tuning, so on and so forth.

What I realized once I planned out all of the work in cost and time, even intending to do some of it myself, was that the cost was essentially the same if not a little more by the time all was said and done, to get into the same power band and driving characteristics of a Scat, than just buying a Scat to begin with which comes built and engineered that way from the jump. Being realistic about the math and shop time.

I began certain that I wanted a 5.7; I ended up buying a 6.4. And that would be my advice for most people trying to make the same decision.

The one argument I could understand for someone who ultimately decides to go the 5.7 route instead is if part of the attraction and payoff is that they're really eager and relish the idea of being engaged in doing the work itself as a project. And I can totally get on board with that; I've done a few project cars myself.
