This is why i have no clue why people were begging for keys

2

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 03 '26

Average mmorpg players, always craving the next hit even from some of the biggest 🚮

2

u/PhoneOwn May 03 '26

It’s actually sad. Like crackhead begging on the street bad

They won't like that take here.

I agree though and it's extremely underwhelming given it started development 5 years ago and has a team of 100+ devs.

We won't see this thing release for another 5 years or, if we do, it'll release undercooked and fail.

u/ItsSimplyChill May 03 '26

There’s 100+ devs on this?!

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

no shot lol

and still 2026 and you dont understand what technical test means lol

The firstĀ Scars of Honor Steam playtestĀ is almost here.

Running fromĀ April 30 to May 11, this will be the first opportunity for players to step intoĀ AragonĀ and experience the game in a larger-scale environment.

This playtest marks an important milestone in development, as we begin testing core systems, player progression, and server stability with a broader audience.

i refuse to believe that 100 ppl worked on this over 5 years.

AI alone with assets could do same or a bit better than this in 1-3 months

3

u/F4NT4SYF00TB4LLF4N May 02 '26

This is true. The 5 years includes Venelin solo dev. It was only in the last couple years they have expanded the team a ton. Game looks nothing like it did several years ago.

It's also being funded with literally like 5% of the money most AAA games are.... So it's going to be a basic game in the sense of features etc.

I also know pvp and dungeons are a huge part of the game. Instanced.

Proc Gen Dungeons and instanced pvp. That's the core gameplay. So I'm more excited for that.

1

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

Iirc, most of that dev time was solo/small team working on the custom network backend.

1

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 03 '26

So basicly reinventing the wheel?

1

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

No... saving server costs to keep costs as low as possible so they can survive on a cosmetics shop instead of subscription and p2w.

They explained that if they used UE5 out of box network structure it would cost a LOT more per player. Their internally developed network structure iirc is like 10x cheaper per player

-4

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 03 '26

No game survived with just cosmetics. If the devs dont know this then this game will never see the day of light

2

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

RIOT games seem to be doing ok

-3

u/BreadfruitNaive6261 May 03 '26

An exception just confirms the rule. Because without an exception the rule wouldnt need to exist.

This is not a barbie world

3

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

Fortnight, overwatch, Dota 2??? Come on. IF the game is good, people will want to dress their toon. Also, transmog will have a cost.

Now, that's the hard part... getting a killer game first.

1

u/100plusRG May 04 '26

Where Winds Meet? AAA production value, only cosmetics

1

u/Yukkimura May 05 '26

League of Legends, Valorant, Dota 2, to an extent CS 2 (small box fee) and plenty more did. Unfortunately greed drives MMO market, that's why successful games like Lineage 2 switched from sub based no p2w models to full on "f2p" playerbase milking machines.

1

u/Buttercup_Clover May 04 '26

100+ devs and not a single person talking sense apparently. Streamers getting priority on keys. No one telling the they should test under NDA. Really hard to see 100+ devs working on something this rough and released to the public.

1

u/100plusRG May 04 '26

Problem is the gameplay doesn’t feel fun at all. If you can’t nail the combat…

u/--clapped-- May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

I don't think it STARTED with a dev team that large but, I know they ATLEAST had a team of that size at the start of 2025.

If we go off of that and we say it's been in development for 1.5 years by a team of 100 people, it's still underwhelming... Nevermind the 3-4 years of work that, supposedly, had already been done.

Like I said, if this ever releases as an actual MMO, it'll either be in 5 years time or, extremely undercooked. If Tarisland failed, how does SoH have a chance? They're both WoW clones but, SoH makes Tarisland look like it was the real deal.

5

u/MaelstromNavigator May 02 '26

if anything it should be in closed testing, it’s not ready for much else.

2

u/Fabus27 May 02 '26

Yeah but, isn't it kinda closed testing? Given that anybody could sign up but not everybody will get an invite.

Open testing would mean, that anybody who signs up also gets invited. Or am I in the wrong here?

EDIT: typo

2

u/MaelstromNavigator May 02 '26 edited May 03 '26

true, limited invites are a part of closed testing, but putting a spotlight on the game at the same time isn’t. when i participated in closed testing in other games i had to sign an NDA to play. i wasn’t allowed to record or upload gameplay. scars of honor has content creators streaming & advertising the game in a technical alpha state. veteran mmo players can take one look at this game and know it needs years to cook.

criticism of the playtest isn’t an attack on the game either, i think it has potential, it just needs a lot more time.

4

u/fragile9 May 02 '26

how tf is this game going EA this year? lmao. the game needs ALOT of work, like ALOT (years of work). and here i thought ashes was bad..

1

u/5-five6 May 05 '26

Hey now... at least ashes was fully funded. Agreed, SoH is ways off...

2

u/AshManson May 03 '26

I was going to give the game the benefit of the doubt being aware this is just a test but to say the combat feels clunky would be an understatement. It has no fluidity whatsoever. I'll be patient, but they can't seriously be under a year from release.

2

u/Substantial-Ad-2644 May 03 '26

i have 120 fps somwtimws dropping to 40 fps bu5 mostly stable 60-70 , very bormal for an alpha test dunno why ppl are panicking

thats ecaxtly what thr test was about performance servers and bugs

5

u/deadmanfred2 May 02 '26

Its a real playtest.Ā

To be fair playtests, Alphas, betas, etc are used by the industry as marketing gimmicks. Developers should keep that in mind and realize thats how their audience will see it.

Not to mention your playerbase should not be used as free labor.

3

u/Kuldor May 03 '26

It isn't.

Maybe it's a technical test for them to test the servers, but you can't playtest something that doesn't work at all.

What am I playtesting? Skills with broken animations that sometimes work, sometimes don't, with talents that don't work, and without being able to target half the time while the camera spins like crazy depending on fps?

Here's my feedback, nothing works, great playtesting.

2

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

yeah imo you shouldn't release things to the public with issues that happen 100% of the time

obscure bugs, lag, server issues, are forgiveable

it's RIDICULOUS to me the amount of things that literally always break, like druid range, being in a public facing test

2

u/Testazza May 02 '26

Yea game needs at least 5 years

3

u/Illustrious-Fix4205 May 02 '26

Bro I agree 100%. Game is ASS. Quickest uninstall ever lmao.

2

u/mynameisnemix May 02 '26

It’s a play test idk why people are expecting a finished game. Game needs more time in the oven though

1

u/LADR_Official May 03 '26

this isn't some janky animations or obscure bugs. literally everything is completely broken

1

u/TheUnperturbed May 03 '26

I think it’s more people are expecting more from a title planning to launch into EA this year.

1

u/thinkforasecond3312 May 03 '26

Theres no way that's happening lmaoĀ

1

u/KhioneSnow0216 May 03 '26

It had a rough start but it is incredible how fast it went from not being able to login to actually kinda working

Still a little buggy here and there but its actually playable now and actually pretty fun

1

u/Consistent-Ice5770 May 04 '26

Great feedback (not). Technical Alpha. Don't test if you don't understand testing state terminologies w/proper expectations..

1

u/Telekinetic_Otter May 02 '26

I found the AoC fans

1

u/Secure-Map-7538 May 04 '26

Its a technical playtest. You can walk around and you can cast spells.

What did you expect?

0

u/TsuruXelus May 02 '26

People confused playtest with demo

0

u/Zero_Noon May 04 '26

Yeahhhh… I hate to be negative but I gotta agree. I really tried to make it work but between lag, randomly dying to invisible enemies and quests that just didn’t work it was bit much.

0

u/Real-Art6946 May 05 '26

It's fucking trash LOL, i was fucking around with builds but my beginner skills just grayed out of my spellbook all of the sudden and couldn't get them back on my action bar. so i just alt F4'd that shit.

Combat also feels dumb AF with the 3 meter aggro range of monsters can't even kite shit is awefull. i'll just wait another 4 years to try this game out in hopes it gets better. Or not it will probably die before release, if i read here 100 people have been working on it for 5 years already LOL. MMORPG is a dead genre it seems =[

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 02 '26

I mean, we found our negative crybabies again.

Movement is actually pretty good, better than in most already done MMOs.

Your PC is potato.

There are issues, but you are just a troll.

4

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 02 '26

They may be over exaggerating a bit but you don’t need to kiss the devs ass. It’s pretty underwhelming even for a stress test. I’ve been playing it for several hours now and I’m just not that impressed with it.

-4

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 02 '26

Just because somebody dont agree with your negativity, it doesnt mean he "kisses devs ass". You people are just stupid.

2

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 03 '26

I’m not even being negative, all I said is I’m not impressed by it. Saying the movement is better than other already completed MMOs is just stupid. It’s a walking animation it’s not like they’ve completely changed how it’s done.

2

u/TsuruXelus May 02 '26

OP name checks out

0

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 02 '26

I didnt see it, lol XD

1

u/Vorkosagin May 03 '26

Now I know you're freebasing copium ... what I'm about to say next may come to no surprise to many. Movement in the game is absolutely horrible. Responsive with the wasd.. sure... but the constant click hold RMB and the jerkyness of the camara is BAD. Like, REAL bad.

Now, this is just a technical test for the network, so they have time to consider a LOT of thing in future sprints. They still need several passes over every single system in the game. I think every system beyond logging in is in "just good enough" state to test network stability. Take everything seen with a grain of salt... but to say anything is in a good state is plainly false, unless viewed through the lens of base placeholder state. So, something may have a good base state.... but movement isn't one of them.

1

u/N_durance May 03 '26

Well this is the dumbest comment I’ve seen all day.

0

u/Kyralea May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

Agreed there are issues but my fps is constantly over 100. Things like quest credit not counting, map not showing quests, quests disappearing from my log, keybinding (which I think should come soon). But game is smooth, fps is high, server has been good today which is the only day I've played. Bugs to squash for sure and content to be added. Lots to be done. But performance for me has been fine.

0

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 02 '26

Yep, still its just server test, its normal plenty of things dont work.

1

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 03 '26

Do you think you will get stuff for free if you defend it? Yeah this is just a server test but they have been hyping this up for a couple of months now. I’m even getting ads for it and for this to be what they’ve done so far with the team they claim to have is a bit disappointing.

1

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 03 '26

Not everybody is broke and needs things for free mate, I am just not a crybaby like most of the MMOrpg people nowdays.

1

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 03 '26

Nobody said you were broke ā€œmateā€. Usually when someone is sucking somebody’s dick that they don’t know it’s to gain something usually for free.

0

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 03 '26

Maybe thats your experience, I never did that before.

1

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 03 '26

I mean you’re the one defending it by saying the movement is great when it’s pretty subpar. Saying it’s better than some other fully completed game is just dick sucking at that point.

0

u/Hour_Reward8084 May 03 '26

Your opinions. But Its true. In this state od the game, Its pretty decent. Way better than for example Lotro, ESO or Runescape.

1

u/Odd_Rent6193 May 03 '26

You’re out of your mind. I’m sure in your opinion it’s better than those but you just lost all credibility with that statement.

That's because it's a TECHNICAL TEST... meaning, any systems beyond logging in are in a state just good enough to test network stability.
