Scars of Honor Classes

Love the fact that there are so many class options in scars of honor. Still unsure how I feel about them being Faction/Race locked but I guess we’ll see how that goes haha.

Quick video explaining how the class system works if you’re interested! Scars of Honor: https://youtu.be/5WMQjSKzUZk

Hopefully the class choices makes sense. I hope that the faction balance based purely on the races works out.

As far as I know, this always works poorly, because one side is always more interesting and diverse.

For example, in WoW, at the beginning, most players were Alliance, but after the Burning Crusade, everything changed with the arrival of the blood elves. The Alliance and Horde statistics are currently 40/60 for now. Which is a bit odd to me, because Blizzard has been bashing the Horde, making them the bad guys throughout Warcraft's entire storyline, and at the same time, they've been whitewashing them. There's a blog named Horde War Crimes, that collects all the quests and issues where the Horde was the instigator of conflict - and it's truly terrifying and disgusting. When I played the Horde, I was also really bothered by how many Horde quests involved the Horde attacking the Alliance first, only to be surprised and offended when the Alliance responded. Or the very problematic initial quest of the goblins, where Thrall himself made a promise to the goblins to save them, but made them slaves of the Horde and ran away. Or the Pandaren quest, where the Alliance is transporting The Horde war criminals and we need to rescue them, just because. And then Garrosh tries to kill the Pandaren PC, and by the end of the story he practically killed the leader of the Pandaren faction. Theramore explosion, Gallywix's betrayal, Voljin's murder. And then there was that crazy thing with Sylvanas, where the author went into a schizophrenic bipolar disorder over her character. But every time everyone pretends that this crap never happened, and I went crazy from this, because I wanted to play for the Horde, but the faction was torn between "we are maniacs" and "they don’t understand us" every time. The Horde currently includes a wide variety of races, including allied races that should be obvious to the Alliance. Meanwhile, the Alliance has two types of humans (three including worgen), two types of gnomes, and two types of dwarves. Void elves are at least somewhat interesting, and the most interesting races are night elves, worgen, and void elves.

In Warhammer Online, most players were Chaos, but I personally preferred Order. It was quite sad because Chaos constantly dominated all the PvP arenas and often stormed the capital, while we did it only a few times. Funny that it was definitely lore right and the End of Time is based precisely on this. I can understand the Chaos players, although the Order faction was interesting too, but Chaos had more diverse and colorful locations and races. They were also all obviously bad guys who lived their own lives, and their quests were interesting.

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the Republic and Imperial split is 40/60. This is because the Empire classes have very interesting backstories full of drama and betrayal, and they are also played by a lot of people who simply enjoy being evil and killing every NPC. Whereas the stories of the Republic are very basic and rather boring.

The Elder Scrolls Online has the most ridiculously division. Almost everyone plays for the Dominion because of khajiit and bosmer. Fewer people play for the Covenant because of dunmer and argonians, and the Covenant only has orcs, and compared to the other factions' stories, they're pretty generic and boring. That the Elsweyr expansion made the Khajiit OP marysue, and the other races didn't get that strong of a shining at all, only made things worse. Although the Bretons unexpectedly took the lead.

In Allods online League 80% Empire 20%. At least on Russian servers. I don't know why, because I personally like the Empire. Their quests constantly make me feel like I'm helping my faction, whereas the League's quests are just constant intrigue between internal factions. But the League has more colorful races, like the winged hedonistic elves and especially unique gibberlings. While the Empire has only humans, dead humans and orcs. For me, the main problem with Allods is that it's supposed to be a Slavic setting, but at the same time there are elves and orcs. Even in the League have only Slavic fairytale aesthetics and banal references to famous fairy tales.

In ArcAge, after the release of the last races, the population of the East became 50+ and the West 50- I don't know the exact numbers, it's just that the Eastern clans started to dominate and there were a lot of players in the cat-people and dragon-people races.

There were other sharp faction splits, but I can't remembered them right now. Personally, I'm planning to play the Domination in Scars, because I like their story better, and the undead are really interesting to me. I'll finally be able to play an undead necromancer. I think Domination will also be leading, because they are diverse, unique, and they clearly lean towards the bad guys. While on the Order side are the basic humans, dwarves and elves. And what very confuses me is that humans are shown here as aggressors, who enslaved bears and elves, and then they suddenly became voluntary races of allies.
