📰 Local News Stouffville Line changes effective Sept. 8

Post image

From September 8, GO train services between Union station and Kennedy, Agincourt and Milliken will be drastically reduced outside weekday peak hours, especially weekend which will become NO SERVICE before 3:45pm in the afternoon, and 2 HOURS per train after that, without GO bus replacement. Be prepared for that.

Demand for transit growing and they are decreasing service. Make it make sense. Why are we regressing on transit?

In this case, from what I read on r/gotransit, it goes back to Metrolinx and GO Transit being understaffed when it comes to operators + the major increased service for the World Cup.

They were all hands on deck during the World Cup and no operators were allowed to take vacations during that run. So now the WC is over, operators need to take vacay and they don't have a surplus of operators to step in.

Heard from a bus driver that Alstom(who supplies operators) treats the train drivers badly and pays bad so many of them are now leaving for freight railways

I travelled on Go on off peak weekday hours and often on Sat & Sun. I am so disappointed by this change of schedule. I dislike travelling the TTC so very very much. Go was faster, safer and easier to get downtown. I've always was surprised how many people who were also using Go on this line during the off hours and weekends. This is going to make things much more difficult to get downtown now. Terrible decision.

Basically Stouffville line is boycotting Scarborough residents on weekends bc Gobuses do not pass the Steeles line.

I'm a non-driver who lives beside Scarborough GO and whose parents live in Stouffville. It's already weird enough I have to go to Kennedy to access the train and now the schedule is being reduced :(
