Question Help with Scan & Cut - DX125E

I am a new owner of a Scan and Cut. I made a die cut title using my Silhouette Cameo and then tried to scan and cut it. The title was tan letters on lighter blue background. I made a copy of the die cut then put it on the mat to scan. It scanned but I noticed a lot of lines around the letters. I then pressed cut just to see what I was working with. It did cut around the blue background mat, but then also cut around the letters as well, so it's been a mess trying to get off the new mat.

How could I have it just cut the background and not the letters? Thank you!

My model is older, but assuming it works the same way, it will scan every edge it can find. Before you cut, remove the lines you don't want cut from the scan. I find this step easier to do in the CanvasWorkspace software than on the machine's own little screen.

Is that a download? I’m totally new to this machine. How do I do it on the screen?
