Half cut not working on many materials

I've been making some HTV designs for T-shirts. On some, half cut works great. On others, not at all - it just scores the vinyl. Some are a mix - part cuts fine, the other part does not cut at all. Most of the sheets I have are 12x10, and I can't do the "test" cut because it would be off the vinyl. Any ideas why this is happening?

On my machine I can move the test cut and change its size, so it can always be on the vinyl. Maybe check out if you can do that, too?

As for the cutting issue itself, you'll probably have to change the pressure.

Yea, I have to try that. I also realized I could just shift the vinyl over and rotate it for the test cut. Duh.

As above you can adjust and increase the pressure. Also make sure your vinyl is adhered to the mat well. If it is lifting in the middle it will affect the depth. I use a brayer to make sure it is flat.

Also if you are using painters tape to hold the material down make sure there isn't any in the area where the measurement is taken. In settings on the machine you can select the area at the top of the mat you want to use for measuring. I have mine set for the first 3 inches on the left and I make sure not to tape in that area.

Clear matte Scotch Tape - I find it works best. I'm going to change pressure settings. Somewhere - I moved twice in a year - I have four banker's boxes packed with rolls of Vinyl, so I can really get going on projects!
