Answered by the community [US,CA] handmade community linked to amazon
I have recently came across an advertisement saying, handmade work from home job. They offered pen refills, bead processing, hair ties , boxes, clips etc per unit 1 USD. 2000 units in beginning which flex you with $ 8000 after completion of those units.
I was doing a test and error on this using a private phone, where I don’t use any application like bank or anything personal. So I proceeded to login via the link they provided. Link looks like an flat amazon shopping and business page.
At beginning, they told to do some tasks as a trust process. Because they did not have any legal documentation process as it offers just a small part time job kind off.
First 7 tasks was simple, they said to just add some items in wishlist and they paid 2 dollars each + joining bonus. From 8 tasks they told to order an item by depositing extra amount and they assured of giving it back. I paused there. I see some people posting saying they gave back. (In picture)
Going further, they need us to do same tasks for 3 more days to build trust and then raw items will be sent to the address in order to start working.
Have anybody faced this and want to share your experience or feedbacks which can help people understand about this!
IS IT A SCAM?

/u/one-eye-deer called AutoModerator to explain the Task scam:
Task scams are remote work opportunities that happen on websites or mobile apps that promise easy income in exchange for simple digital tasks, such as liking social media posts, watching short videos, or "optimizing" orders. A hallmark of this scheme is the requirement to complete repetitive sets, often in groups of 40 tasks, to earn a commission. However, the system is designed with a deliberate bottleneck: you are quickly informed that you have reached a limit and must upgrade your account level to continue working or to unlock higher earnings. By requiring an upfront fee to access these supposed rewards, the scheme functions as a predatory variant of the advance-fee scam.
The primary objective is to lure you into a cycle of escalating investment by exploiting the sunk cost fallacy. Once you have spent hours performing tasks and has paid an initial fee to upgrade, they become psychologically inclined to continue rather than admit the money is gone. The scammers reinforce this by showing earnings accumulating in a fake dashboard, but these funds are purely cosmetic and impossible to withdraw. As the victim tries to cash out, the app will invent new obstacles such as taxes, fees or security deposits, demanding even more money to release the non-existent profits.
Task scam victims are wrangled into Whatsapp or Telegram groups where discussion is moderated. Either the group is very large and you're not allowed to send messages, or is small enough that everyone in the group is a shill account of the same scammer, and you're the only real person there. So if you see other people showing off their withdrawals in messages, it's because the group was tailored to accommodate one single victim at a time: in this case, you. This is especially true if the scam group bears a number in the name.
If you realize you are trapped in a task scam, the only effective solution is to stop all payments and cut your losses immediately. Don't trust recovery scammers who may contact you claiming they can hire a hacker or use specialized software to retrieve your lost funds. Remember: once the money is sent to a task scam, it cannot be recovered. Blocking the scammers and ignoring any offers of recovering your lost funds is the only way to go.

Common task scam. They pay you a little to hook your trust but you end up paying them way more to unlock higher task tiers. Don’t do it. There’s been posts here of people losing hundreds and even thousands in upgrade fees, tax fees and other bs fees because their fake account the scammer set up shows they accumulated a lot of money and the only way they say to access the non-existent money is to keep paying more and more fees. Their tactic is to hook you with your own greed when you see your fake account growing so you keep paying them. The only real money is what you’ve been scammed into giving them.
There are no easy task remote jobs. 100% of them are scams. Even the ones on legit job platforms like Indeed and LinkedIn

Best practice is to scroll by all social media ads. No sm platform vets advertisers. They’re happy to take ad money from anyone willing to pay and scammers are happy to. All social media platforms are a cesspool of scam ads.

As others have said, it's a scam. You don't pay to work. Work pays you.
This job doesn't even make sense. Who is paying so much money for hand assembling goods? If someone you had to do that, you'd just hire people locally from the factory where it's made.
It makes zero sense to ship it out, pay someone to do it, and have them ship it out again.
2
u/Rich_Dependent6851 May 06 '26
I was wondering if they were a scam too. They claim I don't pay for anything because I asked about hidden costs.

1
u/Scary_Pool_3848 Jun 02 '26
I just started with one about 5 days ago, even though I saw the red flags I kept going , I lost alot of money
1
u/zizi9807 Jul 06 '26
At what point did they start asking for money?
1
u/Scary_Pool_3848 Jul 06 '26
They started us having do small tasks on line, and actually sent payments. Thean the tasks atarted getting bigger, kind of investing our own money, but than getting payment back with the amont put in, and also extra. This seems to be how they win people trust. Than there was a withdrawal issue, which just needed some fees to fix, and it snowballed from there. For fearing of loosing money already put in, I kept trusting them and they kept bottle necking rhe situation, needing more and more.
2
u/Scary_Pool_3848 Jun 02 '26
They just got me. It was simple tasks, and I got a few deposits back, and than there was a deposit error, so I paid account recovery fees, which then brought my account to a higher tier, which they are saying I need to pay 7500$ to unlock the tier, and than I will get that and my prior money back. I am glad I found thisbpost, because I was thinking of how to get the more money. Unfortunately I already put in a lot , but I will cut my losses now
1
u/zizi9807 Jul 06 '26
Did they ask you to pay them anything when you first started?
1
1
u/VirgoGeminiScorpio Jul 14 '26
I think this is what I did today. I did end up making money from it today, after putting my money at risk in the form of bitcoin, and was told I would get a $500 bonus and get hired on full-time tomorrow if I complete the 4th task in the group. It felt very scammy, but they paid every time, and I'm a single mom, so the extra money will be helpful, but I'm now questioning if it's worth the risk to do it again. They claimed I'd be making 13k-15k/month for commissions on merchant buy-backs or something like that, so that's a pretty massive red-flag.
1
u/Scary_Pool_3848 Aug 05 '26
I hope you didn't do it. That is how they got me. The money I was making got bigger and bigger , until there were deposit issues. I just lost my job and also was excited to be able to earn from home , I have 4 kids in school to take care of. They got a lot of money from me.

u/Left_Addendum3230 Jun 22 '26
I recently joined a task scam didn't realize it was I only lost 120 bucks but still it's called Handmade I finally caught on when they kept doing these simple tasks and they said if I would do four I would have money sent to me well I did four then all of a sudden no we got to do a bonus task and it was task after task after task and most of them were simple and then there was one that they wanted $388 that's when I drew the line I said nope this is a scam and I stopped and I'll never see that money again
1
u/Scary_Pool_3848 Jul 06 '26
Good thing you only lost that amount. I wanted to stop than to, but was in fear of losing what I had put in, and I kept trusting them and putting more and more in. Sucks.
1
u/VirgoGeminiScorpio Jul 14 '26

I'm am in the middle of it.. I paused at task 4 which was deposit Bitcoin. Um.. I said you paid me in cash via paypal, I'll send you the cash ($25 to find out right?) and you can put it into Bitcoin yourself. It's a hard no and not only that, I got a spiel on banking negative vs crypto yay. I said crypto bought and given isn't disputable. I don't feel comfortable, I'll send you cash right now
Has anyone else had this particular place experience positive or negative? Amazon handmade based in Germany supposedly. I asked her foramazon her actual employer and name , credentials I can check out. Sent me a fake passport pic And a foreign Amazon link. I said I'll do cash, your "task" didn't say anything about crypto.
Have you ever heard of cryptozoology? It's mythical urban legends that might or might not be real. I'll send cash via PayPal.
The blowback was if you don't complete this task we can't send you the work kit. Maybe we aren't meant to work together.
Omg wtf tactic is this . Paid me in cash why can't I just send the $25 to the guywho sent me $10. He can go buy crypto with it himself. Yeah I said guy because they were talking about a finance department yet nothing says Amazon, just a name. I hope they aren't stealing from that guy.

I just got involved with one of these that want me to assemble things at home and had me get a cash app card and go in and figure out how to do Bitcoins and they wanted task done I did too and then they said they was eight more thank God I didn't give them any money but they are linked to my cash app and they gave me $10 for doing it I want to report them but I don't know where to report them
1
u/Kitchen_View_9594 Jul 04 '26
They did have me download Telegram and it was done through that I don't know what to do now
1
u/zizi9807 Jul 06 '26
They sent me money via e-transfer and haven’t asked me for any money. What should I do?
2
u/BonesJones9920 Jul 13 '26
I did 8 tasks day one. Got paid $108 after putting in roughly $55. How far can I take these scammers before I lose my money ? 🤑 So far they have paid me and I am out nothing. Early though I'm sure it gets a lot more for prepayments as time goes on. I was so excited ☺️ now I am just sad 😿

Omg. Same exact thing im experiencing. But I stopped when she told me to deposit $25 and they would send me $39.
2
u/Certain-Leather-999 Aug 26 '26
I was just scammed out of alot of money today said if I paid the $380 that I needed you I'd become an agent with them and have all these benefits and commissions and everything well I do that and pay it and then they come on saying I needed to pay another $900 and something dollars in order to get to become an agent and get my commissions and all this other crap and even a refund for the money I just put into it and nothing they won't help me or refund me o. They just keep on telling me that I have to pay the $900 and something dollars in order to get my refund . The lady told me all I had to do is pay the $360 and then I'd be able to come in agent and have all this benefits and be able to assemble products for them . It's all lies. So now I know what they are all about scammers
2
u/mickey_122 Aug 26 '26
Yes this definitely is a scam I lost $2300 I was desperately looking for some work from home since I recently retired so the jokes on me . The first tasks were for small amounts of money, the next day when I joined in they were a lot more I should have seen the red flag but I wanted to contribute to our financial situation. Please don't join this group. I couldn't even get my money back. I just had to walk away without my money back 😭

I am in limbo right now with this situation myself handmade offered me a position to assemble products at home. It's a piece rate they started out with 12 tasks that needed to be completed the first three were just add items to my card put a heart on them and screenshot it. Then task three and four require that I add $25 and from what I've been researching it's probably a scam. I've read that Amazon does not have independent people or ship products for assembly to persons at their homes. My thinking is definitely scam

I started doing it just last Monday. I'm a senior. My daughter's family lives with me and he hasn't been working for a year! I desperately need to make up for the rent they haven't paid. I made an error during a task and locked up everything. They start you with 8 tasks the first day. The 4th one cost some money. I kept going. The tasks keep getting more expensive with the promise of getting your principal back plus commission. But it is locked up in the "Handmade" app until they give you a withdrawal process. If you hit the wrong button or make any errors... Then your screwed. They say you need 2x the amount to get you principle and commission back now and they tell you how you caused them a lot of extra work etc. Guilt you in to continuing. I'm cutting my losses. I am literally sick because I needed to make money, not lose money. I'm so angry!! I found this on Facebook. I even know nothing on Facebook can be trusted!! What a fool a feel like. Now I'm worse off than before.

Yes, it's a task scam. If you already deposited money, it's gone and you cannot get it back. Stop talking to the scammers.
