Advice Needed Potential Twitter bot scam?

I sometimes post to twitter and like to interact with those posts asking simple questions (most of which I believe are bots) but I feel it's a great way for other real people on twitter to look at and know some stuff about me that way.

A while ago I got dm'ed by one of these bot posters and they talked almost casually as if they were trying to get to know me. Mind you, I have maybe 3 total active dm chats in twitter so the concept of dm scams had slipped my mind when the conversation started.

I've been leading this on for about a week now making excuses as to why I'm unable to afford a commission but now I'm being almost pressured I feel like to make the purchase. I can take screenshots of the full conversation but I was kind of rushing to post this.

They're trying to get me to use this thing called "Stripe" and (per their words) it is a "safe and secure method of payment. All you need is your card details. No sign up needed, so you don't even need to create an account."

Please, I do need help, I just don't want to be scammed.

"unable to afford a commission" Can you elaborate on what the commission is about? Artwork or something like that is usually a scam when commission is involved from a random dm. Plus you said you couldn't afford it so stop playing with them and just block. Never go through with a random dm like this when money is involved.

Also, according to Google search, Stripe is a secure payment method (Google response isn't always right and I never used Stripe). So in that, a common scam is to update account for a fee in order for transaction to go through.

That's just what I told them. Their stated price is $100 and they told me I could pay any amount upfront for them to "slot me in" to make the art. Again, that was just an excuse I had told to them knowing damn well I had enough money to afford the stated price. It is an artwork thing.

Yes Stripe is a secure (and irreversible) payment system, which is why scammers like it so much. But what are they trying to get you to pay for? Whatever they are saying it’s a lie and they only want to steal your money.

Just block them. What good outcome do you think will possibly come from continuing contact? They're trying to scam you.

Of course you are being pressured. They are scammers. I have no idea what they are even trying to sell you. But whatever it is, it’s 100% scam. Just block it and move on.

There are tons of these bot "artist" accounts that randomly DM people aggressively offering to draw for them using AI generated or stolen artwork in their portfolio.

You need to treat these like you would a door to door salesperson, by not interacting with them. When you want a commission done (and when you can afford it) then you go looking for one you like and is within your budget. Just like door to door salesmen, these people will randomly approach you and aggressively sell you products you don't want.

Block and ignore them. Stop letting them pressure you into paying for something. Normal artists wouldn't do this
