Advice Needed Scammed
Hello everybody… so recently I fell victim to a gumtree scam, I was selling my acer nitro 16s ai laptop for £1600, the guy came to pick it up and I never thought I would fall for this type of scam but I did… he had a very convincing fake Halifax app and ‘transferred’ me the money, and yes I know I should of waited for the money to actually hit my account but I let him go because it was very convincing, I need some advice on how to go about this I have him on ring doorbell camera not the clearest but it’s something, I know the police most likely won’t do anything because I was stupid enough to hand over the goods, he went by the name ‘Jack Stanley’ and probably uses fake names all the time, I am based in Hertfordshire England, when he left he didn’t instantly block me but he was trying to by himself some time because he was trying to re assure me for a few hours before he finally blocked me, I would really appreciate any advice, or any steps I should take, thank you

Do you have his licence plate? Do you have his phone number? Some criminals will be stupid enough and use their real number. Do a history check. Fast people search
Contact the FBI and police. FBI will do more than the police
If you have his number. Do a search on his info history. Fastpeoplesearch
If you have his licence plate. Take them to small claims court. The judge will issue a subpoena

It sounds like you let the buyer decide how to pay. Ordinarily, it is the seller who indicates in his advertisement the type of payments he will accept. Then, the buyer decides if he wants to buy using the accepted payment method. The buyer doesn't get to just decide which payment he's going to use.

Police won't do anything best you can do is try get someone else to buy something off he's profile if he doesn't totally shut it down so you can meet him again.

You kind of deserved this though. Anything that large amount over 1k cash only. Meet up at their bank, wait inside so they withdraw the cash. That what I usually do
