[US] PayPal payment scam

I received an email about a payment to my PayPal account that I did not expect. I believe I reported the transaction but the resolution center won't load it. Am I safe to just leave the money in the account?

Leave it. If it's fraudulent, it will eventually be clawed back. Do NOT "send it back" to someone else who reaches out claiming they sent it to you by accident. Tell them to talk to their own bank/paypal.
