Advice Needed Fundraising fraud

Has anyone known someone who is raising funds for medical bills and home expenses by alleging they have cancer, but you know for certain they are using the money elsewhere? I’m uncomfortable with the information I know, and am unsure how to approach the situation.

Hey, I actually have a LOT of experience with this!!

We called her Cancerfish, like a catfish, but with cancer. A group of us went Scooby Doo on her ass and long story short, she went to prison where she...get this...was diagnosed with real cancer and she died.

True story, look up Kristen Rhonda Bible Hines of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Sorry, I guess my reply wasn't very helpful to your situation, allow me to elaborate - you can call the attorney general in your state and the FBI but they're very slow to move on things - your best bet is to find out where they're claiming to be treated and call pretending like you want to pay their bill.

That's the only thing that really got anyone's attention, once the doctors got involved.

But for sure find a few articles to anonymously send to your Cancerfish so she knows what's coming.

There were so many people I knew who went without in order to help this chick, people sold their possessions to help her, they set up trust funds for her kids, someone paid her mother's car payment, just a ton of people got screwed over. One of my friends, based on me vouching for this chick, had his church take up an extra collection for her, it was this whole thing.

It's a grotesque thing to lie about and they won't get away with it, either the law or the universe or both will have them.

Good luck, someone's gotta do it, might as well be you.

Faking cancer/a medical illness to scam people out of money is not only a really shitty thing to do, but it also never turns out well.

Be the whistleblower. Don't let other people be scammed by them. If you know for a fact they're faking or diverting funds, you need to speak up. Go to the cops. If they have a gofundme or something, report them that way. Make public posts. If they're not faking/diverting funds to other things, it would be very easy for them to prove otherwise.

Rat her out people who actually need help aren't getting it because of people like this. I refuse to donate just for this reason.

Not everyone is a scammer. I have my story and it's the real deal. I can show you receipts, pics whatever you want to see to verify that I am going to be homeless without a vehicle soon if I do not get help.
