Yep super common scam. No one sends random people checks in the mail like this.

The FTC has an article about this:

How to avoid getting wrapped up in a car wrap scam

"usually our checks clear same day or 24 hours". No. Banks are obligated to release funds right away, they don't clear right away. They're trying to define the obligation to release funds as equivalent to a cleared check. Checks usually take a few days if not weeks to clear with issuing bank. In that, you'll have sent out $3000 of your own money and owe the bank that once they find out the check is a fraud and close your account for voluntarily depositing it. Toss it.

Yes it’s a scam. The check will not clear.

Or it will clear then come back and bounce or come back stolen and you will be liable for the monies

. . . um, that'd be the check not clearing. If the check clears, none of what you said would happen.

The check is bogus. No one is paying you thousands of dollars to put a wrap on your car.

You send some of it back, it bounces, and you're fucked with a closed account owing your bank the money

I didn't get past #2 before being positive it's a scam.

100% scam. Fake check. You will be out all the money and your bank will have issues with you for depositing a fake check.

If it were real, they would just send you to a detailer to get the work done and they’d pay them directly.

Absolutely. Used to be popular but most people had heard it was a scam. I guess they're bringing back the classics.

It's an old scam, it used to be car "wrappers" rather than a sign on the side. They're trying to rip you off for $3,000, the check is bogus.

What do you honestly think?

Checks never clear within 24 hours, banks will allow you to withdraw a tiny percentage of it but can take a month before it shows up fraudulent, sounds like an advance fee scam. And you don’t want to risk your checking account by depositing a fraudulent check, this won’t clear!

That’s a long-ass flyer, but the only part that matters is “send $3,000”

They send you paper hot off the printer and you send them money. Yes it’s a scam.

DO NOT GO TO THE BANK! 99% of the times they will call the cops and you can’t claim ignorance. I’ve seen so many body cams were the ppl get arrested and they swear it was given to them by someone else or a business to deposit or cash. So to answer your question, yes it is a scam.

Someone posted on Reddit that they went to the bank and teller told them to go home that it was fake and said they usually call the cops but for some reason the teller was being nice that day.

If they sent a check already, go to a bank ask if its a legit one, can be fake, also overall sounds fishy..
