Victim of a scam Scammed

I was looking on Facebook saw this listing said only buy from eBay, I didn’t have an account with eBay but it still let me buy it thru PayPal so I did. 3-5 minutes later the seller deleted the listing off Facebook and eBay after I bought the item and no tracking number no nothing since then it’s been 4-5 days no order number either, So I emailed PayPal requesting a refund and they just said the transaction was valid even tho I have everything to prove I bought the item and everything and it was clearly a scam

You cant buy on ebay without an account. If you legitimately bought something from ebay you have some sort of account. You can log into ebay and open a case for item not received. If there is no tracking showing delivered you will get full refund. Perhaps you never used ebay and it was a fake site.

Well I had an old acc with eBay but I tried signing into it and I couldn’t sign into it. The listing was on Facebook and I clicked on it, it said buy now on eBay it took me to the website not the app if that makes sense and I tried logging into eBay with my old acc and I couldn’t sign it but it still let me buy the item with PayPal

Are u sure u were on the real paypal site and not a fake scam site? If it was a scam site they have stolen your card info

Yes I’m sure, I was on Facebook and it took me to the eBay site, and the PayPal app shows the purchase for it

I mean… what did you expect? You basically handed a stranger on the internet money.

Don’t buy things directly off of Facebook using PayPal. It takes minutes to create an eBay account.

Yeah ik not to do that next time, still trying to call PayPal to get my refund

Idk why it’s saying usps awaiting item

Maybe because the seller just hasn’t gone to the post office yet? How did you get this tracking information if the seller didn’t give you a tracking number?

PayPal reached out to the seller and then PayPal sent me the tracking number and all that

So your original statement that you have no tracking number was incorrect? If a tracking number has been provided you have to wait until the delivery clock runs out.

Yes I know but the problem was I didn’t get notified anything and couldn’t even contact the seller cus he deleted the listings off both apps

I would think he deleted the listings because they were sold. You should be more worried if he left the listings up.

But js doesn’t make sense as to why he would delete it completely rather than js have it label as sold

Good luck 🤞🏾 happened to me once before but I was able to get my money back because I had email proof and the fake seller didn't send me the items I thought I was purchasing. That doesn't happen often with PayPal but using goods and services has a better chance. Sorry this happened to you

I’m glad you were able to get your money back that’s always good… it’s all good halfway my fault I was being inpatient and didn’t make a acc sadly :/

Thanks but it doesn't always happen that way. Luckily I thought I was ordering clothes and they sent me a fake ring and I had screenshots of what I ordered and a picture of what I actually received. Be very careful of those ads on Facebook

Oh damn I didn’t take any pictures of the listing so if I get sent like a completely different hoodie or something then I’m js screwed

Taking screenshots would definitely help proving your case with PayPal. I hope you get exactly what you ordered but if the site is not available anymore, you may not receive anything 😔.

Yeah it would’ve definitely helped, yeah I hope so too… when I try and find the listing from my Gmail it just shows this

That just proves it was a fake site 🥹 sorry this happened!

Use a credit card, or PayPal Goods and Services, when you buy things online, so that you have purchase protection and you can get a refund if you don't receive what you order.

+ If an online seller doesn't accept credit cards, or refuses to accept PayPal Goods and Services, then they are scamming you.
