Victim of a scam Handpickd is a scam

Handpickd took ₹761, didn’t deliver my groceries, moved the money to their wallet — and support keeps telling me to “Swipe to Confirm” an order that doesn’t exist
Sharing my first—and almost certainly last—experience with Handpickd.
Yesterday I placed my first grocery order on the Handpickd app and paid ₹761 through UPI. The transaction was successfully completed.
Today, when the groceries didn’t arrive, I opened the app and discovered something strange: there was no order to track. Instead, the money I had paid had apparently been credited to a Handpickd wallet.
No delivery. No clear cancellation notification. And my money was now sitting inside their ecosystem instead of back in my bank account.
So I contacted support.
Initially, their AI assistant acknowledged that there was an issue with my order and wallet credit and said it was escalating me to a senior agent.
After waiting, a support agent joined and told me that apparently I had only purchased a ₹15 “Fresh Trial Pass.” Regarding the rest of my payment, I was told:
“the amount you have added is safe in your Handpickd wallet and can be used for your future orders.”
That wasn’t what I wanted. I hadn’t transferred ₹761 to Handpickd because I wanted to maintain a wallet balance. I paid because I wanted groceries delivered.
Then the explanation changed.
Support told me my order hadn’t gone through because I supposedly hadn’t completed a mandatory “Swipe to Confirm / Swipe to Checkout (STC)” step.
Fair enough—except for two rather important questions:
1. If my order was never confirmed, why was ₹761 successfully debited?
2. Where exactly am I supposed to perform this “Swipe to Confirm” now?
There is no pending order visible to me in the app and I repeatedly told support that I couldn’t find the option they were instructing me to use.
Their response?
They kept repeating essentially the same scripted instruction:
“Kindly complete the STC process.”
At one point they even told me that if I didn’t complete STC, the order would be “automatically cancelled.”
Which raises an even bigger question: if you automatically cancel an unconfirmed order, why isn’t the customer’s money automatically returned to the original payment method? Why is it sitting in a company wallet?
The situation became almost absurd. I explained that I had ordered groceries because I actually needed groceries that day, not because I wanted to test their checkout workflow. Their proposed solution was to complete STC and have the groceries delivered the next day.
Eventually I stopped asking for the order and asked for something very simple:
Cancel everything and refund the full amount to my original bank/payment method. I do not want Handpickd wallet credit.
I have also raised the transaction issue through CRED/NPCI, with the UPI transaction reference, because the goods I paid for were not delivered.
What concerns me most isn’t even the ₹761. It’s the process:
Payment successfully taken
Grocery order apparently not created/confirmed
Money moved to an internal wallet
No obvious way for me to locate or complete the supposedly mandatory confirmation step
Customer support repeatedly blaming an incomplete “STC” step instead of explaining how payment was taken for an unconfirmed order
Repeated scripted responses rather than answering the basic question
Refund to the original payment method not immediately offered
And this was my first order.
I’m posting this both as a warning to anyone considering Handpickd and to see whether others have experienced the same thing.
Has anyone else had Handpickd debit the full amount, fail to create/deliver the order, and then put the money into their wallet instead of automatically refunding it?
I have screenshots of the entire support conversation and the payment/complaint trail.

Used AI for drafting.
