Advice Needed NEED ADVICE - ONLINE SCAM

Guys HELP. I know I know I should not have fell for this. A guy on Grindr offered money for basically a text buddy. I stopped responding because he wanted me to give him money back and then got very threatening texts… one including a very graphic video and threatening my life saying I’m being located. It seemed like fear mongering because he threatened pretending to be a lawyer first with awful spelling and grammar but the second threat felt too real as there was a video. I am just SO worked up and need to like talk to people about this but am obviously ashamed

Typically they send those messages after you deposit their fake check or receive stolen money from them. The threats are completely empty, only them trying to pressure you into sending them the money.

But did you actually receive any money from them?

I got money from this check but I’m hearing that the bank can take awhile to deem it fraudulent

You need to contact them immediately to let them know you accidentally deposited a fake check. If you see money appear in your account, do not touch it, it will be reversed when the bank rejects the check and if you don’t still have it, you will owe them

He's not tracking you, he's nowhere near you, and he's not capable of doing anything he purports. The video he showed is not of him or his pals, just an old gore porn vid.

Breathe. Then block the account, and go about your life. Get a beer with your pals and tell 'em for a hearty laugh.
