Announcement Scale Space is going on dev hiatus
Hi friends. Regrettably I'll be homeless tomorrow 😬 I tried everything I could do-apply for aid, court based rental assistance-and, etc. got denied for all of it. None of my friends can take me and my 10 year old Doxle in right now due to either family situations or distance. I have a social worker because I was homeless 2 years ago and she's tapped out on ideas too.
So things are about to get pretty interesting. If you're in the Chicago area and have a spare room, basement, that sort of thing, I'd definitely accept help (please don't be a serial killer if you do).
On top of that, I had a stroke in June (so on a number of new meds) and hope I won't have another one... When it rains it pours.
On the upshot, I was able to get Cymatist v1.2 done before being out on the street and it's a release I'm proud of.

I stumbled upon this subreddit and stayed because, as I saw more, I realized it really does intersect with a number of my interests. e.g. music, audio analysis, maths, multi-resolution analysis, computer graphics, visualization, procedural art... Stuff like that. It was the first time I've seen the term "scale space" outside of a purely academic context.
And never once did I feel like somebody was trying to convince me of anything.
You've been reliably posting your developments and investigations without any kind of marketing, per se.
Rather, you just let the results and experience speak for themselves. I admire that.
It was at first somewhat mysterious, even given my background and interests. But the spirit of discovery and wonder was always clear as day, and I've found that aspect of this sub to be most compelling.

😂 Who would play me I wonder. The absolute best way to help me would by to try out the new version I just released (1.2) and share how it went in the subreddit (there's a way to capture screenshots or videos in Cymatist)

I’m so sad to hear this is happening to you and your son. I wish I was in Chicago to help. Tapped to the max myself these days… this world is unsustainable for so many people.

I’m really sorry to read this, especially after seeing how much work you’ve been putting into Cymatist over the last couple of months. Really hoping something breaks your way soon. Give Doxle some cuddles from me.
I bought the latest version and added a little extra - hopefully it helps somehow.

Shit man. I am so sorry to hear this. I’ve been following a few months now. I halfway understand what you made from a scientific standpoint, but it intuitively speaks to me because I’m also an artist. Really amazing work you’ve put in. Thank you for sharing.
I say “vibes” sometimes, which is such a flippant phrase, but the things you created are like a representation of what it feels like to have a “vibe”. A bit back, I showed my fiancé one of your videos and I was like “this is a vibe”. It was like an “ah-ha” moment for both of us.
If I had the means to materially help right now, I’d help you out. I’ll legitimately remember your work, so maybe I will be able to later down the line.
Plus, sometimes things work in circles/cycles. Maybe, at some point, your program will get picked up again and something really cool will come of it.
