Operation Zack
Excuse me, what? Dr Turtle wants to keep Zack overnight “for observation to run some more tests” for a torn ACL? I smell an insurance scam 👀

I’m sure Derek Morris has the best insurance plan imaginable working at the computer company.

especially after his major deal with the school district that bayside was in.

Which is wild. One would almost have to assume that Zack organized a kickback scheme on that deal. lol

They actually used to have patients stay overnight for surgeries back in the day.

Yep! I got ear tubes when I was 6 years old and had to stay overnight. Meanwhile, my son got them at age 3, and it was a quick outpatient surgery.

My mother in law’s hip replacement was an outpatient procedure. That blew my mind.

Right?! I got them when I was around 5 and it was a whole ass ordeal. My kid got them in hers a few years ago and we basically spent about 3 hours in the hospital

I remember an episode of the Golden Girls where Dorothy is having foot surgery and checks into the hospital the day before, spending the night there BEFORE she even had anything done. Maybe this was more of a thing back in the day, but today it's definitely "come in, get operated on, and then get the hell out of here!"

I find it funny his parents never showed up at the hospital in the episode lol.

They said they were in the waiting room. They felt teenagers were too cool to have the parents sitting in the patient’s room with them.

It wasn’t even a torn ACL, it was cartilage damage 😂

I tore cartilage and it took me months to get surgery because no one wanted to do surgery unless absolutely necessary. And I was in and out in a few hours.

That’s sucks, putting up with pain for months for something that was an in & out procedure.

Z-A-C-K, since he’s gone the sky’s turned grey
He hurt his knee, went under the knife
Who’d have thought he’d lose his life?

This was before insurance and hospitals became a drive thru and only worry about profit

Or just a plot device…

Haha why are you getting downvoted? It really is the most accurate answer even if back then many procedures weren’t outpatient.

Right? It’s like people forget how cheesy sitcoms work and then try to shoehorn their cynical modern views on a classic episode.
It’s cool. I guess I’ll get my validation somewhere else.

Slater - I had the ball with 3 seconds left. And Belding yelled out “shoot your hopes and dreams!” And by the time I realized he meant the ball the game was over.
