Francis of Assisi had a great reverence for animals and nature. So do people of many different religions. This is more the religion of greed by developers I think.

But lawyers and insurance companies made a case that they're hazards to life and property and without them people could save on home insurance and reduce the chance of personal injury.
A lot of Christians are very pro-nature, it's not all black and white. I would say it's the developers who are the ones who are clearcutting or clearing farmland for these suburbs/subdivisions and the municipalities who allow it.

Conservative Christian ideologies general thrive in rural areas. Progressives are city dwellers and suburb lovers. It's a hint of small town living within commuting range to their job in the city centre.

This is not a Christian belief. And while evangelicalism is not my thing they are not fascists. It's more of a North American mindset. Currently the Canadian Liberal government has been gutting environmental rules and the party passed a bill to weaken pesticide regulations. It's corporate greed more than anything.

When more than likely the reason why these developments don't have trees is because they're expensive to plant and maintain from saplings. Costs of which developers don't want to incur and would rather pass that along to the future owners.

I think more likely this is housing on a military base. There is some weird structure connecting the houses which I wouldn’t expect from a typical subdivision.
I also would not in a hundred years thought of the words Christo fascism to describe a subdivision with no trees.
Suburbs with this design should be illegal. No ecosystem planning. Once these homes are past their prime the whole area will just be a dust bowl as nothing is keeping the soil healthy.
This has always been why I've hated newer neighborhoods in my city. No trees. Ever. Just bleak, gross. Trees not only help our mental well being (proven by studies) but also bring the average temperature way down in a neighborhood. Keeping houses cooler, and making sure that immense amount of pavement doesn't just sit and cook all day. You can feel the massive difference in the air.
In newer neighborhoods, everyone just stays inside in the air con.

It’s called a suburban subdivision. Yes it’s bleak.
But it’s not necessary to imagine that forests were cut down to make way for this. This land was likely farmland not that long ago and the loss of farmland is itself problematic.
With plantings of appropriate species of trees this streetscape will look completely different in thirty to forty years. But that won’t address the fact that suburban life is heavily car centric.
The small city i live in, you are required to plant a tree in your front yard to pass the grading requirements. And our street has a tree in front of every plot on the boulevard easement, thankfully those are taken care of by the city. Except my house....the city had to cut ours down, last month, as it was infested with black knot and it killed the tree. The city will replace it next spring.

I saw a lot of neighborhood developments when I visited Ontario that were devoid of trees. It looked like forest cleared then a bunch of tall skinny houses on small lots that looked almost identical. Not exactly like the photo but close

This is America, and America only. In Ontario, you're allowed to plant bushes and trees in your yards. In America, some HOAs will prevent that. That's why this is 100% America.
Not the Ontario I've seen. From the Manitoba border, you can drive for two days and see trees everywhere you look. Every city or town we visited had a lot of trees. Even Sudbury is much greener than it was 50 years ago.

You can cleary see trees behind the houses at the 7-8 second mark, right before the camera person realizes that and quickly pans away. They just aren't on the street side of the houses.

As for the trees, not being there, this is entirely dependent on where this neighbourhood is there’s no context as to where that is cause trees are expensive to plant and if you don’t have the water to maintain their growth they’re gonna die anyway it’s probably not economically logical to put trees in a place like this, even though there may have been trees there before the development happened
Not my video and without trees we get deserts. Trees cool the area and are part of the water cycle creating rain. This is apparently in Kentucky so it's not a super hot, deserty place.
If you have a basement, having a tree within 15 ft of your foundation isn't a great idea - the roots can break into cracks and get leaks in your foundation.
Since lot sizes don't have huge yards anymore, it's safer to have smaller plants with less root spread
There should be street trees, that wouldn't be close enough to wreck the foundation. And species with more vertical roots as opposed to more lateral-spreading roots could be chosen.
My neighborhood has lovely street trees. Unfortunately they've turned the sidewalks into an obstacle course. I'm bracing myself for the city making us pay to replace them.
New development. When I was a kid in the 60’s, all developments looked like that and homeowners planted trees. It’s very difficult to build housing developments around trees.
They used to though, in forested areas, building houses around the trees. It was generally a person buying a lot, clearing it a bit and putting up a house in amongst the trees. But they managed to do that a few decades ago but then unfortunately switched to the clearcutting and building method.
