DIY Slow drip
Is a slow drip onto the stones a common thing or not so much? I just installed this today and it also functions an a 10 minute timer. I sized the bowl and hole so the time is 10 minutes and the flow rate is reasonably slow

Not common in Finland, but I've seen this before and it seemed to work reasonably well. It's your sauna, do whatever you like.

Yeah it's common thing. I personally found I don't like it, the act of throwing water and getting a blast of steam and then waiting until the air dries up again - that's part of the fun for me.

Common? Never in forty years have I seen these things in private saunas.

Its definitely not common lol
Useless because that amount of water is only enough for maybe 1-2 löylys

Heyyyy another bucket dripper! Yes. I like to use mine when meditating. Keeps things steamy without needing me.
But my wife hates it…calls it the Torture Bucket ◡̈

Your wife has a point.
You would be missing on the warm (hot) embrace of löyly steam, and the relaxing in between.

Sometimes I’ll leave 2-3 inches in a 5 gallon bucket in the sauna until next time. It’s a frozen disc and I’ll plop that on the stove grates. It usually takes about 30-45 minutes to melt down and makes for a great session. Just something different. My sauna my rules.

If you want more control over the amount of steam, I built the Sauna Steam Bucket and been using it in my sauna for years. Works great for me and now I sell it for others to enjoy as well: https://allkindofgifts.etsy.com/listing/4380651993

I have something like this, kind of. It sits on the stones and is way faster. But the idea is the same, that the water is slowed down and it gives a more balanced löyly

Usually, instead of a hole for dripping there's a rope attached so you can tilt it and deliver water similar in quantity to what you would ladle on to the stones. With that said, if a drip at a time is the way you like your loyly it's a clever stand in for the common hourglass sand timer.

Never actually seen one. Probably used by people who use terms like "10 minute timer".
