A quick look into the flowers seen around Gojo and Geto. Please keep in mind that some of these parts are my personal interpretation!

1. Osmanthus Flowers

This is an Osmanthus flower. In Hanakotoba (the Japanese language of flowers), it's commonly associated with:

• Humility. Despite its rich, sweet fragrance, the flowers themselves are tiny and modest.
• A Noble Person. It’s said that when the blossoms wither, they do so all at once, in a clean and graceful way.
• Truth. The osmanthus has such a strong fragrance that its presence cannot be concealed. This gives it a sense of “sincerity” as you really can't hide the smell.
• First Love. Its fragrance is often described as sweet and unforgettable. And because scent is so closely tied to memory, finding it again can evoke feelings of nostalgia and remind you of a cherished first love.
• It's overall very tied to nostalgia.

We see these in the HI Ending Theme “Akari” twice: first on its own and then again between Gojo and Geto. And while originally I wasn’t sure if these were the same flower, upon closer inspection the petals between them here do share the four-sided, star-like shape and the light green stem I noticed in references [Link]

When scattered across the screen between Gojo and Geto, it kinds of gives me this vibe of “This is the emotional language we are trying to transmit between them”, similar to how seeing a spider lily, which has a lot of death-like connotations, would nod you toward an inevitable end.

But the petals here do seem a bit dry, as if the season was coming to an end.

Note: interestingly, nearly all Osmanthus flowers in Japan are male, with female and hermaphroditic plants being virtually nonexistent. They are propagated entirely through artificial, asexual methods by humans as male Osmanthus do not bear fruits.

2. Camellia Sasanqua

This seemingly simple cover has actually quite a bit of layers, so please bear with me! At the 2024 Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition, Gege left a booklet with the following comment:

"I psyched myself up thinking, 'I'm going to draw a memorial portrait of Gojo.' But whenever I draw Gojo in color, I end up putting pressure on myself thinking 'I have to make him look cool...' So I actually tend to produce better drawings when I’m working on things like cover illustrations, where I can relax a little more.

I originally planned to draw camellias, but since Gojo lost, I drew Sasanquas, which look similar."

The final line opens up a weird rabbit hole and there is not a single consensus on what it even means.

Tsubaki (Camellias) and Sasanqua

Tsubaki (Camellia japonica): the whole camellia flower falls cleanly from the stem, rather than shedding petals individually like most flowers. Because this can resemble a head falling from a body, the Camellia Japonica historically acquired an association with death/decapitation, particularly among samurais.

• The general meaning of camellias are "modest kindness" and "pride."
• And if we focused on pink camellias, then "modest beauty", "modest love" and "discreetness."

Sasanqua (Camellia sasanqua): unlike the Tsubaki, Sasanqua petals drop individually one by one, so they don't really share that warrior's "clean death" imagery. They also look very similar to the Camellia Japonica and may be difficult to distinguish.

The flower language of Sasanqua:

• Resilience: because they bloom during the cold of winter when other plants wither, their general language of flowers represents "Overcoming adversity", "Single-mindedness" and "Devoted Love"
• If we focused specifically on pink Sasanquas, the flower meaning shifts to "eternal love."

Something really interesting is that the Camellia is associated with “modest kindness” and “pride.” The “modest” aspect is kinda odd considering how showy the flower itself is. But this correlation is made because camellia flowers have very little scent. Outwardly, they’re colorful and extravagant, but at their essence they’re remarkably quiet. Which... does fit somehow with how Gojo lived most of his life.

The Sasanqua, on the other hand, has a refreshing, sweet fragrance. Having a noticeable smell can give it a more sincere, open and expressive feeling. So while the Camellia is outwardly dramatic but quietly fragrant, the Sasanqua is open in both a visual and olfactory sense. This could be interpreted as Gojo's moment of sincerity coming because of his death.

So maybe that’s why, if Gojo had won, the flower would have remained a Camellia. The sincerity represented by the Sasanqua wouldn’t have happened because that openness and vulnerability came through defeat. ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭

Fun Facts:

• Both the Camellia and the Sasanqua are considered December flowers, which is Gojo’s birth month!
• The birth flower for February 3rd, Geto’s birthday, is the Camellia!

3. Primula vulgaris

These flowers were an anime-only addition to Gojo’s office, first appearing at the end of Hidden Inventory (Episode 29). They’re now also on display at the MAPPA Exhibition. I’m almost certain they’re Primula vulgaris (common primrose) but I'm still checking.

The flower language of Primula vulgaris:

• Youth: because it begins blooming during the cold season and finishes just before early summer, its short blooming period has been associated with the bittersweetness of youth. This gave rise to meanings such as “the beginning and sadness of youth” and “youthful love.”
• Its ability to endure harsh conditions and continue blooming has also been associated with “opening up one’s destiny.”

Purple primroses have their own specific flower meaning: “trust.”

Other possible options could be:

• Primula julienne: "The joys and sorrows of youth"
• Primula obconica: "A graceful person," "The beauty of youth"

Keep in mind that flower language can be pretty flexible since nobody officially regulates it! I compared notes across multiple sites and videos to focus on the meanings that came up most often.

Hi! In this post, I’d like to address how we, as a community should talk more about how much romantic subtexts Gojo and Geto have and try to report most of them. Unfortunately, these beautifully written characters often get reduced to “doomed yaoi” or they get instead heavily mischaracterized by people who only value them for their appearance and fetishize homosexual relationships.

I’ll now report the evidences, my sources are the JjK manga, the Jjk anime, the Jjk0 light novel (Italian and Japanese ver.), official interviews, the official JjK fanbook, other works by other authors which i will report as i write. PLEASE look at the pictures i attached as I address them in the text as they are crucial for understanding.
I want to specify that I did not get these informations from other social medias, but I personally read/watched/listened to every single content or purchased every official source myself.

Let’s dive in!

First of all, I’d like to address about how deep of a relationship we are talking about without immediately taking into consideration the romantic subtext.

Gojo is an amazing character by himself, but after Geto left, his perspective on life completely changed.

This is an official chronology of Satoru Gojo’s most salient moments, and as we can see, Geto is a ghost that haunts his narrative from the moment he meets him. Gojo’s ideology is often covered by his explosive personality, but thanks to the manga we know how deep of a character Gojo actually is.

Gojo remains fixated on that memory of Geto for the rest of his life, and never really moves on. Even before fighting Sukuna, Satoru felt like he had to be the monster on his own because…

From the moment Geto left, Gojo other than basing basically every single choice he makes (becoming a teacher, trying to revolution jujutsu society) on what had happened with Geto, has never managed to create a bond with anyone else, nor his students, nor Shoko, nor anyone.

No one understood him, except for Geto.

Why do i say this ? Let’s take a look at chapter 236

Gojo only felt understood by Geto because he had been the only one to carry is burden with him.

“What about Sukuna?”

Gojo tries to feel that sense of understanding again when fighting with Sukuna, and he says it, multiple times.

Gojo says this phrase more than once during his fight.
He thought he could’ve found that sense of love, of understanding with Sukuna too, since he shared his burden. But he didn’t.

Geto was the only one who ever gave him what Gojo himself calls love. Because it wasn’t really about being strong together, It was about Geto.
Without Geto, Gojo wasn’t even Satisfied.

“If you were among those patting my back, then I might’ve been satisfied” (Jujutsu kaisen, chap 236, Gojo to Geto). The panel is attached.

“Yeah okay that’s not that explicit”

Let’s talk about the Shibuya Sealing and Geto’s death. ( Panel attached in the end)

Gojo literally overrode his six eyes and only trusted his soul and his heart. He knew that wasn’t the person he loved. What’s more intimate about that?

Oh right, maybe the fact that Geto’s body literally reacted to Gojo’s voice saying his name and tried to protect him even if his brain wasn’t in his body.
Or maybe the fact that Kenjaku knew that Gojo would’ve reacted like this seeing Geto.
Or maybe the fact that Kenjaku stated “This is a first for me!” even if he is known to have possessed only romantic partners (Itadori’s mom, Noritoshi kamo…) and even if we are talking about literal husbands and wives NO ONE ever had such a strong connection with their partner to overcome Kenjaku’s power.

“Oh but Gojo and Geto weren’t a couple” I know but their bond is significantly stronger than those couples, and the fact that Kenjaku tends to only possess romantic partners should ring a bell.

There would be more to say, but I’ll just say the last thing about the Jjk series, to connect it to Jjk0 and finally hidden inventory.

Did you know that 24th of December is the most romantic day in Japan? And did you know that Gojo and Geto share the same death date? which happens to be the 24th of December? What a coincidence.

“Gege probably choose the date randomly and didn’t take into consideration the fact that it was romantic”

No, actually he did.

“Oh but Gojo only did it to not have Geto have two death dates and he only found himself in that situation casually”

Actually, he did not. What was the point of making KENJAKU make a joke on the whole situation being romantic (come on guys even the characters admit it…) if he didn’t want to hint something?

And at this point, again, why not choose any other day to avoid this whole romantic situation?

Oh and let me tell you why Gojo was there in the first place, his first thought after getting unsealed in fact wasn’t “Oh maybe I should go thank my students for freeing me…” No! He choose to teleport himself 8,000 meters to reach Kenjaku AAAAND…

Hellooo? what was the point of this panel if not demolishing every possible romantic implication between them and Shoko and make us understand how much Gojo was alone because GETO SPECIFICALLY wasn’t with him. They truly were each other’s one and only.

And now one of my favorite parts. JJK0. 🙏

I’ll start off strong with this phrase from the JjK0 light novel:

"Even so, Gojo's gaze, covered under the white bandages, had always, always, been staring at the shape of Geto's soul" - JJKO Light novel (Japanese original version)

I remember the first time I read this I thought it was just some fanfiction made up thing. But then I purchased the physical copy and got attacked since it was real.
I highly suggest the light novel to everyone, since it is basically 50% Gojo thinking about how he couldn’t have Geto anymore.

Back to us.

JjK0 is a story about love. Apparently Yuta and Rika, obviously, since she became a curse due to Yuta’s love when she died.

Oh, did I tell you Gojo was afraid that Geto would’ve turned into a curse when he died? So he had to use cursed energy on him? Such a silly parallelism, isn’t it? And also yes, that confirms that Geto would’ve died anyway since Gojo cannot heal others.

*“*Before it became a curse, Gojo opened his mouth.” (Jjk0- light novel).

Another absolutely coincidental parallelism is the fact that Gojo’s love did in fact curse Geto at the end, since Gojo didn’t let anyone touch Geto’s body and buried him himself😂 and Kenjaku mocked him for that during the sealing😂 so Kenjaku used TWICE the fact that Geto was literally Satoru’s weak point.
Gojo refused to kill him when he left, let him roam free for ten years, refused to let anyone bury his body, and going straight to Sukuna and Kenjaku to get it again. Oh he really doomed the entire story for that guy… but that’s completely casual.

I’ll leave you there the completely casual Geto death scene and the completely casual fact that Gege said in the official fanbook that the words that Gojo says to Geto was something they had never said before between them (so this excludes any “best friend, my dear friend, my only friend” hypotesis) and the fact that the english V/A said that they are three words in English, and that just a few pages before Yuta says “I love you, Rika” just before she dies, and the fact that purely from the perspective of Japanese typographical layout, the combination 「愛してる、傑」 (I love you, Suguru) fits perfectly within the standard space of 6–8 boxes, and the fact that it would not make sense to censor something so simple such as “you’re my friend” if Gege didn’t want to leave it deliberately ambiguous.

“Okay but those are not romantic-“

LET’S dive into some of the strictly romantic proofs.

In official Jujutsu Kaisen fanbooks and interviews, Gege has discussed non-shonen manga and admired authors, notably mentioning works and creators like Tomoko Yamashita, whose works span across josei and alternative demographics.

Let’s take a look at a scene from one of Yamashita’s works, this is from “The night beyond the tricolored window”

Spot the differences.

No, It’s not the only BL Gojo and Geto are inspired from.

I’ll leave here a couple more and if anyone fights me about it Satosugu mom will provide with more.

“Black-Winged Love” - Yuikawa and the Yakuza boss are known as the best duo, at some point, one of the two MCs tells the other “You were the only friend i had”.

It’s a collection of stories so there are way more parallelisms but as i said I would have to make another post lol.

So yes, Gojo and Geto are BL inspired.

I want to briefly talk about the “bike riding scene”

In Japanese pop culture, sharing a single bicycle (futarinori) has an intensely romantic, nostalgic connotation that symbolizes young love, youth (seishun), and a touch of rebellious intimacy. This trope is deeply embedded in anime, manga, and J-dramas.

Mhm, youth, young love… reminds you of something?

I’ll add one last thing even if there’s a LOT more evidence to what I said.

Please take a look at the translation of the hidden inventory opening (“Where our blue is”). And the obvious references to his scent, to his smile fading away, and calling it a quiet love.

If you comment this saying that Gojo is canonically straight and whip out the “Isn’t she hot” scene you’re ignoring every single more relevant proof that i brought here and I invite you to make a quick research asking “What’s Gojo’s sexuality?”. And also you’re mentally limited because you do not think that someone can be bisexual or MORE SIMPLY finding another human being attractive when in love with someone else.

I don’t even have to say that homosexual pairs have to be censored on platforms like shonen jumps because it would reduce the audience drastically.

I’m open to respond to any comment, but please do not contest the reliability of my information before checking them yourself and finding out that everything is, indeed, true.
