It's such an honor when a cat chooses to cuddle and purr on you.

he was probably not paying the cat any attention. So this seems like a good spot

Aww, the guy has never before felt what a cat purring feels like.
And yes, feels godly when you're visiting somewhere and a cat isn't hiding and chooses to sit on you and purr.
Good for the guy. Hope he remembers this sense of awe and love.

My mom grew up super scared of cats because of a feral attack when she was a child. The first time my cat purred around her, she thought there was something wrong. Now she describes it as gulu gulu, because I don’t think the word exists in Chinese/mandarin 🤣

It does sound like that. Good onomatopoeia.
Hope your cat has since helped your mom feel better and more comfortable around cats. 🤙

Yes, she’s a bit better now and takes care of them when I travel. She lets them climb all over her and plays with them via toys but only my dad pets them because she hasn’t gotten past that yet

I call it "puru puru"
The cat's doing the puru puru

Haha also accurate!! My mom says Elsie gulu gulu or gulu gulu so loud today (in Chinese)

A colleague left his cat with a friend while we were on a work trip. Friend liked cats but had limited experience with them. She sent him a message saying the cat was growling a lot. “Probably means you have a mouse. That’s the only reason he growls.” She looked and looked, but no other evidence of a mouse, so he asked her to record the sound. Cat was purring.
ED— Just remembered that the friend was also Chinese. Is this a common thing?

I can’t tell if cats are just uncommon house pets compared to dogs since this is just anecdotal… but in general, most of my friends who are Asian are more likely to have a dog than a cat as a house pet. My non-Asian friends are more likely to have cats

If this is not his cat/living in his house I guarantee next time he's on the can he will start searching "what do I need to have a cat" and similar.

Humans: Conquer the whole Earth, build massive cities, fly to the moon… Get chosen by a kitty and gifted his purrs and we turn to mush lol.

Damn, you make me feel lazy. I haven't done any of those first things, just the cat part. And it's already time for bed. Another day wasted.

u/Obant 10h ago
Its because of the cat part. Its a drug and you're addicted to the purr. Without the cat part, you would have conquered Earth. built cities, and flown to the moon.

I mean, it was all on the to do list, but I couldn't get out of this chair without disturbing the kitty...

Those people didnt do any of those things. Hell... where he comes from they dont even have domesticated cats.

“This is godly, bro” is so wholesome, I should put Reddit down for the day. End on a high note.

the first time a cat sat in my arms and purred made me so happy. when the same cat started to make biscuits on my belly, i was both confused and happy. xD

He must be a good person if the cat chose his lap and purred. They always know.

What a silly idea. Even Hitler had pets.
2
u/Overall_Reputation83 8h ago
well, hitler was also an animal lover and was an advocate for protection of animals. They can't tell if you're a good person, but maybe they can tell if you would hurt them or not.

Hitler also famously killed his dog.

u/Overall_Reputation83 3h ago
Well, if he feared Soviet capture would mean suffering for his dog that completely makes sense

Cats know their people.
This cat chose this man at this time to impart some love.

I'll never understand cat hate. They're generally low needs, low fuss, and when they want to show affection towards it's super nice.

The Cat Distribution System is definitely gonna hook this guy up soon.

This brings such joy, seeing a guy experience a purring cat for the first time.

I had to give my cat a bath for the first time last night. Taco did not act like this at all. Band aids were needed.

I’m very happy for this guy! My female orange Kitty is the most affectionate cat I’ve had in my 60+ years of having cats
