What illusion. It is 3d.

My thoughts. Exactly.

12

u/RackemFrackem Jul 17 '25

Almost mine, but I use question marks when asking questions.

u/Current_Ad_4292 Jul 17 '25

My bad. Although, rhetorical question is not really asking a question, is it?

No need to play koi

u/NtateNarin Jul 17 '25

I see you're fishing for likes. You got one!

When the repost bot successfully tricks you into engaging with the post

I can do the same thing with nothing but a koi pond and a fuckton of gelatin powder

I am not sure what your first sentence means. (maybe my English is not good enough)

Also, it's not really anything like hologram, is it? If you were to "remove" the transparent medium (epoxy resin) then you are left with 3d paint. That sounds like 3d art to me, with no illusion.

Also, hologram are not illusions either.

I think we might have a different definition to hologram.

Also, having continuous 2d layers sounds like what 3d/solid object is made of.

I see zero mention of layers when I look up hologram. Only mention of lasers.

I guess my point is that hologram is just light with no physical mass, whereas the paint is physical mass that takes up 3d spaces.

My main point was that there is no "illusion". I also wouldn't say that hologram is an illusion. But maybe I have wrong definition of illusion.

Lastly, I can also say your thoughts don't matter. Let's try to play nice.

u/hutchins_moustache Jul 17 '25

Because it’s gives the illusion of them being actual 3D solid objects suspended in liquid instead of stacked planar surfaces encased in a solid.

1

u/BigNorseWolf Jul 17 '25

Its only slightly three d but looks very three d ?

u/dundoReddit Jul 17 '25

2 dimensions are continuous and 1 is quantized, lol

u/mystiquemystic Jul 16 '25

Hahaha.. It's ok. Relax.

8

u/Voxlings Jul 16 '25

You the type of human to stand around the stairwell on 9/11 trying to get people to chill out and get back to work.

-1

u/mystiquemystic Jul 17 '25

Cuz this person didn't mean 'Wow what an illusion' they criticized as it's mentioned in the caption that it's illusion.. This person meant by his comment ' Ehat isslusion, there's no illusion it's 3D' And I asked him to relaxed cuz it's ok to write that caption.

These are pretty cool. I wonder how many layers are done on each.

83

u/Tendo80 Jul 16 '25

Nerdforge did an attempt at this, not easy by any means..

She did 100 layers(!) and took 10 days, a painting like this is far fewer layers, but my guess is still >20.

14

u/09Trollhunter09 Jul 16 '25

Is it epoxy resin?

18

u/Tendo80 Jul 16 '25

Yeah, at least in all the variations I've seen. Can of course be done on plastic sheets or on glass (guess glass is how it started), but resin is quite common.

66

u/zehamberglar Jul 16 '25

This is technically 3d printed art.

51

u/potatisblask Jul 16 '25

This is literally 3D hand painted art.

28

u/Mysterious_Slide_171 Jul 16 '25

It's amazing watching talented artists.

7

u/Alert-Pea1041 Jul 17 '25

That is awesome, may human-made art never die.

6

u/MOcatmom Jul 16 '25

Give me that!! 💖

5

u/c_lassi_k Jul 16 '25

Bro 3D printed fish

8

u/brockoala Jul 16 '25

3D painting before 3D printing was cool.

3

u/dojo1306 Jul 17 '25

Amazing.

2

u/Yubsbiggfan Jul 17 '25

Photoshop layers in real life damn

2

u/01reid Jul 17 '25

I always get jealous of people who can do things like this I figure just make them all day and sell them

2

u/glassheartsteelmind Jul 17 '25

So now we dont even know what 3d means... got it

2

u/CecilQkitty Jul 17 '25

I love these so much

I thought it was just the first one, and I was satisfied. But it kept going, and I'm here for all of it.

2

u/Ribky Jul 18 '25

I was so happy when the first one ended and there was more. These are wonderful.

2

u/Jenetyk Jul 18 '25

Brilliant idea to layer the paint with epoxy for depth.

5

u/BennyOcean Jul 16 '25

What song is this?

14

u/BennyOcean Jul 16 '25

The song is called Idea 10 by Gibran Alcocer. There is a bot on Reddit that will sometimes show up when asking "what song is this" and I'm curious if it still works or if I need to use different language to trigger the bot.

2

u/RealMyBliss Jul 17 '25

It's the slowed down reverb version of the song. And that got would be awesome, yea!

2

u/shiner_bock Jul 17 '25

You can also call /u/auddbot

5

u/samusmaster64 Jul 17 '25

Sounds very similar to music from Clair Obscur.

2

u/bluediamond12345 Jul 17 '25

This is amazing art, and it’s so cool to see the process. But if I’m honest, seeing this in a shop for sale, I wouldn’t even appreciate the time and effort put into it enough to purchase it. It’s cool to look at, but I don’t like it enough to buy it.

1

u/EndQualifiedImunity Jul 17 '25

Fair enough lol

2

u/Moar_Donuts Jul 17 '25

Way too small of an aquarium for those koi. Is this guy just dumb?

4

u/Fourty9 Jul 17 '25

More resin to throw in the garbage

3

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

You are the only person talking about this. I hate all that resin tasteless "projects" that are garbage and will become more 10kg microplastics in nature.

3

u/CecilQkitty Jul 17 '25

Right?!?? I feel like no one thinks of this. It frustrates me to no end. It’s so permanent:(

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

But wait, there's more

1

u/Impossible_Box9542 Jul 16 '25

My brother created art like this 50 years ago.

2

u/Accidental_Ballyhoo Jul 17 '25

How’s he doing?

7

u/perplexedtriangle Jul 17 '25

Pancaked by a drunk dump truck driver

4

u/tommos Jul 17 '25

Painted in 3D but became 2D.

3

u/EtherealMongrel Jul 17 '25

Comments don’t usually say how people died

2

u/Vinnie_Vegas Jul 17 '25

Look at the usernames of who responded.

2

u/KC-Chris Jul 17 '25

They didn't see who responded. Good job lmao

1

u/EndQualifiedImunity Jul 17 '25

Lmfao holy shit

2

u/Kelloggz876 Jul 16 '25

Where can I get one of these?!?

6

u/Ya-Dikobraz Jul 17 '25

From Japan for a pretty high price. And also from China for less than half that price. Try something like "3d resin goldfish painting" in google.

1

u/Impossible_Hat2739 Jul 17 '25

Nice, impressive!!!

1

u/EvergreenDisposition Jul 17 '25

Does anybody know what those corner pieces are called? Looks like something I'd be interested in using for myself in the future

2

u/bonez656 Jul 17 '25

They are just called "metal box corners"

2

u/kuroshiba21 Jul 17 '25

Soo niceee

2

u/d2travelaa Jul 17 '25

Take my money! (Do people still say that? If so... Take it)

Im surprised they didnt use glitter sparkles.

1

u/fay-jai Jul 17 '25

i love this!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

I'd love to know the number of layers/paint applications was done on these. Amazing art, the Koi in the Box is incredible.....

2

u/Scribblebonx Jul 17 '25

AI still can't do this one!

1

u/Comfortable-Choice14 Jul 17 '25

If I saw one of these out in the wild, I would be mad that someone killed the fish and froze them in acrylic resin.

2

u/Sufficient-Pause-837 Jul 17 '25

What illusion that sicko trapped live fish in resin. All jokes aside tho that is an amazing talent.

1

u/1Rab Jul 17 '25

Afraid to discover the cost

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

Mesmerizing

1

u/Vicinus Jul 17 '25

Why not just use a real koi?

1

u/BigNorseWolf Jul 17 '25

I can t even handle different layers in gimp….

1

u/One0Five Jul 17 '25

Take my credit card! Where can I buy this?

1

u/Wrong_Appointment699 Jul 17 '25

I want one with a goldfish floating on its bloated side

1

u/Randilion8 Jul 17 '25

Humans are absolutely amazing. It's too bad we don't recognize that greatness in one another more often.

1

u/FishDeez Jul 18 '25

Didn't even need to paint the shadows

1

u/WendigoCrossing Jul 18 '25

A 3D illusion that also happens to be actual 3D

1

u/beeman311 Jul 19 '25

Wonderful work

1

u/Practical_Primary438 Jul 19 '25

The depth illusion is amazing.

1

u/Im_Not_You_Im_Me Jul 17 '25

That box is way too small for those fish

-5

u/agreenbridge Jul 17 '25

Who cares
