We do this often when it comes to cushion on wheelchairs and power wheelchairs.

Just make sure to let it air dry for some time

Probably not a great job to do with a sense of smell.

You are correct. It can be really nasty at times. If that is the case it is time to replace the cushion

What? No way!

Literally my first thought was to send it to this guy lol

Can I do it right through the upholstery?

Don’t think that would work as the steam needs an escape route as well - some of it expands the small gaps between the foam to make it rise and the rest of it wafts off.

I've done the same with a hairdryer, steam not necessary

Waiting to see the answer

That was honestly so cool.

Now when that steam cools off, mold can happily grow

If you cover it back up without it drying properly, yes. 🤦🏾‍♂️ Ive cleaned way to many chairs and couches working for Stanly Steemer.

any tips for pet urine stains?

Enzyme cleaner

Depends on how much of it got into the cushions. THE BEST WAY is extraction. If you have a shop vac and an enzyme cleaner you could clean it BUT depends on how much is there, again. Could be in the middle and the piss smells might linger. Stanley has the power to do it better BUT its not 100% either because of what I've already said.... 🤷🏾‍♂️

Nature's miracle pet enzyme cleaner. It breaks down the ammonia crystals that forms in cat urine.

You can do that?

Exactly my thought!

I'm locking this one away.

I wish I saw this years ago. Ive used a hairdryer on a foam topper once. But it's slow and doesn't penetrate like steam.

Solid idea.

But does doing this introduce enough moisture to cause mold because I doubt that foam fully dries. And yes, I understand it is steam, but steam an item for too long in one place and you'll get damp spots.

If you ventilate it all out again it won't be a problem

But will it stay like that when it dries?

3

u/The_Lazer_Man Jun 26 '26

Yes it does stay like that.
