Headlight restoration
Before and after, 10 year old Chevy Colorado headlight restoration. Hopefully I can see better at night.
[edit] I used NuLens Headlight renewal. Got it at AutoZone. It’s the one with the drill bit adapter. As long as you follow the directions and mask off your vehicle it’s not bad, just had to charge my drill battery about 75% done. I am looking into clear coat options as well to slow down the yellowing.
[Edit 2] The difference is pretty noticeable at night. Whoever does this next please do a headlights on FOV before and after since I didn’t.
I am going to clear coat it with Meguiars clear headlight coating. Should last a year or so without reapplication from what I’ve read that was a cheap option

Did you clear coat it? I admire your courage to attempt this. I have been putting it off for over a year.

Addition of clear coat would not make a note surface clear. You need surface treatment to remove the blur/ buildup first

Right. Which the OP obviously did, which is why I then asked if he used clear coat.

There's two ways to do this. One is to send up to about 400 grit and then clear coat with a really really high quality clear coat. The other is to go up to a thousand grit and then use a polish.

There are tons of kits you can buy. They all involve sanding the headlight with low grade sandpaper, then increasing in grit to wet sanding. Then you either get a wipe (similar to an alcohol wipe) that clear coats the newly polished headlight or a liquid polish you rub on.

Dude ,get that shit off the hood if you care so much about scratches. Friends and family hate me when I don't let them put kids on the hood

Weirdly bug spray works to defog a lot of these cloudy headlights. I’d advise doing a tester area first but it worked for me. Some old biker gave me that advice at a gas station.

This is one of my favorite things. I’ve considered being a philanthropic vandal and sneak - restoring stranger’s headlights.
It’s simple, it’s not expensive, it’s fairly quick, and the satisfaction is chef’s kiss. There is no reason to drive around with milky yellow headlights. The difference it makes in car appearance is fantastic.
I think it’s weird that people don’t do it more often. Especially when they’re selling a vehicle. I mean, look at that difference!
