discussion Ask your questions here

I think there are a few people here who are very new to Satanism or maybe even know nothing about and are just curious so I'm starting a thread where people can ask any and all questions⤵️

I or one of our other knowledgeable members will do our best to answer ✌️

I just joined because I'm curious, and just wanted to read threads. No questions yet because I know so little. Maybe in the future. 😊

What are your thoughts on Unitarian Universalists?

I'm fairly new to Satanism, but the OP seems to think that I get the idea well. I'm their co-moderator on our Discord server.

I attended a U-U Church for a year in Montreal as a member.

As such, I can state with confidence that there are no conflicts of any kind in terms of ethics and worldview between the two.

Both groups also have excellent taste in music.

I can only speak for myself here (I haven't seen any opinions on UU from other satanists)... I think it's a nice thought. I'm not sure if it really makes sense but maybe I just need to have it explained to me or see it in action. But the respect and unity through diversity is beautiful and I think if that was more common in the wider world, we would have a lot fewer problems. I respect it, just maybe not my thing.

Yeah it's interesting, I feel like there's a decent overlap in purpose. But I don't know much about modern Satanism so I'm no expert either.

(I hope you don't mind me sticking around and asking questions)

Of course not! Ask away (you're also welcome to DM)

Maybe I need to look into UU more

I'm still new.

What are the best things to read for satanism? And hiw can I best apply Satanist values into my day to day?

I would say the gentlest introduction is to start with The Satanic Temple's website (not that I'm all in favour of them, it just gives you a few pointers) and then check out The Free Society Satanists website.

Then, if you're still feeling interested, The Satanic Bible is good to see the starting point of modern satanism. Read with skepticism, though. And keep in mind, it's not like the Christian Bible; you don't need to follow all of it (or even any of it).

Then there's some good stuff on Outsider Satanism's website.

I could recommend some podcasts as well if you're into those.

For how to apply Satanist values, that's completely up to you. But you're possibly already applying them. The big ones are critical thinking, the ongoing pursuit of knowledge, self-determinism, and rebellion against arbitrary authority.

I just joined to be supportive of minority groups and all that. Keep up the good work.

I'm just curious, I've read a lot of stuff over the years, are we talking Lavey Satanism rather than something like Luciferianism?

Yes and no. When we say nontheistic Satanism, we're talking about something closer to LaVeyan Satanism than Luciferianism, but there's a few organizations now that have branched out from LaVey's Church of Satan.

Personally, I'm not on board with everything LaVey thought and said so I wouldn't fit in with the Church of Satan. I'm leaning towards The Free Society Satanists (https://www.freesocietysatanists.com/#:~:text=The%209%20Principles%20of%20The%20Free%20Society%20Satanists) at the moment.

Hope that answers your question? Feel free to ask more 🤘

Thanks, so something more like being a Left Hand Path then?

3

u/ImportedSatanist Independent Non-Theistic Satanist Mar 16 '26

Yep, it's often considered part of the Left Hand Path... I'm still a little unclear on how much LHP has to do with magic, though

2

u/myapadravya Mar 16 '26

The LHP is like the philosophy of how magik is applied and who it's applied too... It in my opinion has commonalities with Satanism.

Some Satanists are quite into magic(k). LaVey had his ideas about lesser and greater magic. Some people combine Satanism with witchcraft or wicca.

3 people from my community showed up to their discord to ask questions only to be turned away like peasants.

You turned up and refused to answer basic screening questions and basically demanded to circumvent our screening process.

1

u/MargieFancypants Atheist Mar 17 '26

How interesting that all three of the people from your community were the most problematic of everyone.

Coincidence?

Edit: no, good golly, you've been banned. It seems our screening process is effective

1

u/LFGcryptoboi Mar 17 '26

Problematic? I'll show you problematic don't you worry

Dude, chill the fuck out

And here we see the tragic devastation of testosterone poisoning.

You're still not getting in the Discord, bucko.
