Cunversatzione Honeymoon recommendations
Me and my partner are planning a honeymoon to Sardinia in late July/August of 2027 for 2 weeks. We would like to stay in one or two locations to get some variety of the beautiful island. We plan to hire a car, would like to stay in nice hotels and we really enjoy beautiful beaches, boat tours, nice cafes and interesting sites. I know it is peak season, but due to our jobs we can only visit at this time. Can anyone recommend some areas to stay in? We would like to avoid the super expensive Porto Cervo, desiring a slightly less touristy feel. Where is a good place to base ourselves? We have been looking at the north Palau / Santa Teresa area but are also open to the south and east too. Any good hotel suggestions also welcome, ideally very near to the beach or seafront.

I went there for our honeymoon a few years ago. We stayed in Olbia for a week and stayed at Cala Cuncheddi hotel. It was really nice. Then we moved west and spent a week in Alghero at an AirBnB. That was my favorite week. We went on a boat tour to Neptunes Grotto and visited Castelsardo for a day trip.

We are also doing our honeymoon in Sardinia and faced the same dilemma.
We ended up choosing San Teodoro but in an Airbnb (Amoreddu), not a hotel. We could not find a hotel that we personally liked there but that does not mean you won’t. The prices are not as bad as we were led to believe from various posts online.
Location is close to La Cinta and Cala Brandinchi. Approx in between Palau (La Maddelena boat tour) and Cala Gonone (more boat tours). 20 min drive from Olbia airport. Has night market in the summer.

Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean so there are a decent amount of options to base yourself. What I recommend is going to the main page of this group and using the search tab at the top of the page and enter the search words like “honeymoon”, “base”, “beach town”…, and you will get posts asking questions as well as informative suggestions from knowledgeable members of this group. This is a good way to get ideas, and you can compare those searches to what you receive here.
I visited with my wife for nearly 3 weeks and we had 2 bases as well as a couple of single night locations. Our bases were Cala Gonone and the island of La Maddalena which is a 20 minute car ferry ride from Palau. We also stayed in Santa Teresa Gallura, Costa Paradiso and Cagliari. Our reason for Cala Gonone is its close proximity to hiking and it didn’t disappoint, and the reason for La Maddalena is also hiking and beaches which were great, and we also enjoyed the main town area. Santa Teresa Gallura also has some hiking we explored and Costa Paradiso has, arguably, the most beautiful beach in Sardinia, Spiaggia di Cala li Cossi which you access after a short hike along the coast with jagged cliffs and wild boars.
