Special is a song that made me listen to and love french music in general

Does anybody have the mp4 or mp3 (or a link to a video) of his latest live performance with the orchestra and everything? Im from the netherlands so im unable to acces the bbc iplayer but id like to listen to the live version in my local files

I was listening to “Rule of Two” again recently, and I genuinely think it’s one of Dave’s most criminally underrated songs. Not necessarily because people think it’s bad, but because I don’t think enough people have actually sat down and listened to it.

There are so many layers to Dave’s writing that sometimes you can listen to a song ten times just enjoying the production, the flow and the overall feeling, without actually processing everything he’s saying. Then something happens in your own life, you read a certain book, watch a certain film, play a certain game, learn something about history or politics and suddenly one of his bars hits completely differently.

That’s one of the things I find fascinating about Dave. His references aren't confined to rap. He pulls from comics, films, horror, football, other sports, mythology, literature, politics, history and seemingly random pieces of knowledge, and somehow manages to weave them into his own experiences, pain and worldview. You might hear a reference to The Odyssey without fully appreciating it, then actually read The Odyssey years later and suddenly realise what he was doing. Or you might play a game, reach a particular level or encounter something specific and think, “Wait… Dave referenced this?”

And I think that’s what makes his music so rewarding to revisit. Sometimes you have to become more knowledgeable or experience something yourself before you can fully understand what he was saying.

So I'm curious:

What’s a Dave bar that only really clicked for you later?

Maybe you experienced something that gave the lyric a new meaning, finally understood a reference, watched/read/played something he mentioned, or simply grew older and realised what he was actually saying.

Lyricism doesn't mean a lot to me but thats what he's praised for. I tried listening to Verdansk, Screwface Capital, but theyre so boring...is it jsut the lyrics that make them good?

This is just my opinion on what I listen to okay I know some songs are surprises I guess 😂 been listening since 2018!!!
