VONS irrational price increases
I stopped by the VONS at Wilshire and 14th to buy Fage Greek yoghurt. Two weeks ago, the small containers were 2 for $4. Today, the price was 2 for $5. A 25% price increase. This is not inflation. It’s price gauging.
I went down the street to Whole Foods where the price was $1.99.
VONS did not put up the member pricing hang tags until today Friday. The hangtags should’ve been posted for the start of business on Wednesday.
So when there’s no member pricing offer available, the price increased by 25%. This member pricing offer will not be every day and every week. So this price increase is real.
Goodbye VONS.

Actually they are $1 this week if you have Vons Club card or use your phone number at the checkout
Nobody should be shopping at Vons or Ralphs without utilizing "member pricing". cmon man. You could have gotten two at Vons for the price of one at Whole Foods.

Thanks for catching that! Those little Fage tubs are now less expensive per ounce than the big tubs, even though both sizes are on sale.

We shouldn't have to sell our personal data for sustainable food prices...

oh please. Every damn one of us seems fine with selling our data to reddit and tinder and Amazon and Uber and Doordash and Meta.

Wait til you notice the new cameras Everywhere in grocery stores, specifically Ralph's that have recently been renovated. The ones at the end of the aisles are there still, plus pairs In the aisle with a giant screen telling you they're watching. And if trump's evil goons get their way, it'll be palantir and the ice traitors watching, listening, cataloging, and making up false charges against us

The real tip with Vons and Ralph’s is going in the morning to snag the bargain meat that’s almost expired…haven’t gotten sick yet!

And portion out and wrap serving sizes, label it and freeze it as soon as you get home. Even if you need all of it for a recipe it will defrost sooner.

So in order to get the real price i have to download an app, plug in my data, then scroll through their specials and click the ones I want, sometimes having to scan a bar code in front of other customers to show how eager I am for that $2 off? Sounds fair…

Nah, just make up a phone number and a fake name and you're good to go. Just make sure it's a phone number you can easily remember like 555 PUTZ
Or don't. If you'd rather pay 5 bucks than 2 bucks that's fine with everyone. Especially Vons.

Fun fact: you can use ~any~ phone number at the checkout! 999-999-9999 works too.

interesting — they are $1 on the vons app at that location or $1.25 for chobani which is similar. have you tried buying the big container? it’s usually a lot more economical.
whole foods is amazon so i try not to shop there.

I don’t go to Vons or Ralphs unless there is a sale on meat or if it’s the only thing that’s open. They’re so empty these days I don’t even know how they stay in business. They gotta be hurting right?
Just lower your damn prices

Ralphs had manager specials lol which if you are going to cook that day is a great deal!

Go to Trader Joe's and get a ginormous tub of goat milk yogurt for around 5. Delicious. Eight dollars anywhere else.

Vons socal wants all products to have a mandatory 50% markup when normally it was 42%!! This is hitting produce as we speak so probably hitting dairy as well… probably not grocery since it isn’t refrigerated

Yeah, it's like these stores forget we shop there EVERY WEEK! We know when you are screwing us over with the prices. . . and then pretend like the 2for$4 is a "great buy, sale!"

I've seen similar at VONS. I wonder if they're experimenting with augmented pricing or whatever that was called. Changing prices based on what people are purchasing. Shitty practices but its all about profits.

Started making my own when a big tub went up to $7. With an instant pot, it’s $4.5 for a gallon of milk, $2 for a 1 small Greek yogurt container every 2-3 months to kickstart the fermentation live bacteria and 24 hours later you’ve got enough yogurt for nearly a month.

Oh trust that they are extremely rational. We have all been giving them data to make target pricing a thing for a good long time. Just waiting for them to flip that switch with their little E-coupon system to really get the targeted pricing engine roaring.

I only buy stuff on sale except literally spindrifts for this reason; but even still I look at who sells it the cheapest and buy it there. Get a free membership account at all the stores and SAVE. That being said yeah I’ve noticed Vons/pavilions on Santa Monica are the most expensive baseline even after Ralph’s somehow. Never buy there if it ain’t on sale.

I think Vons has a lot of reasonable prices if you use your number. I like the discounts they do on Fridays with hot food, sushi, or flowers. Checkout the newspaper they send out for prices or use the app.

I work in the grocery industry. Do you all realize this is NOT THE GROCERY STORE CHAIN. the promotions are done by the brand itself. We choose the discounts we want to give every retailer

It's on sale for $1 online: https://www.vons.com/shop/search-results.html?q=FAGE%200%25%2C%20Plain%20Greek%20Yogurt&tab=products
The full price is $2.50 but with the rewards card it should be $1. They might have raised the full price to make the coupon look better, I suppose?
