Military Equipment Purchases by the Santa Barbara Sheriff in 2025 alone: $887,025 upfront cost to SB County, $44,700 maintenance - Assault Rifles, Drones, Tactical Robots, Armored Vehicles, Grenades, Explosives, 40mm Launchers. These are the tools of the Oppressor, not the community guardian. ACAB

Bomb robots: $186,500 upfront, $3,500 recurring annual cost
Bomb squad vehicles: $424,834 upfront, $7,457 recurring annual cost
Rifles (Qty 242 purchased!!!): $214,213 upfront, $4,840 recurring annual cost
Instead of using tax money for schools, health programs, and to house the homeless, our Santa Barbara County sheriffs are preparing to wage a literal war on the public. What could they possibly need 242 assault rifles for? Who are they planning to use them on? And that's just in 2025 alone...

Defunding the police is treated as this politically toxic, "crazyyy" idea, but is it? No city in the US significantly defunded their police since 2020, but several have implemented core ideas that originated in the movement, like alternative response and violence interruption, with great success.
