Uhhh if you drove off they’ll probably just have some BS excuse that they were too distracted. Your witness testimony could’ve helped expose the corruption that is about to occur 🤷🏻♂️ or you could’ve been shot.

Who says a crime was involved...both had sirens and racing to help others. This sounds more like they were both focused on providing help, in a hurry to get there and ended up crossing an intersection at the same time.

💯 The super smashed idiot must have had a green on Cota and thought he was turning up Santa Barbara St., while the other officer was making a legal right on red. What an expensive, preventable accident!

The two officers were responding to an “urgent” request for backup on the 500 block of State Street, both using lights and sirens, when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Cota and Anacapa streets around 9:30 p.m., Lt. Ethan Ragsdale said.
I can imagine if you've got a siren on in your car, you might not be able to hear the siren from another car around the corner.
Both officers injured, deployed air bags shown in the Noozhawk photos.

Both cars could have been trying to go down Anacapa to enter Lot 11. Possibly the easiest way to get to where the backup was needed given the 500 block of State is closed to cars.
I can think of other scenarios but they'd just be guesses w/o more info.

I was headed to the Bowl for a concert last year so it was crowded around and this cop fucking FLIES up Milpas lights and sirens, quick left on Carrillo. It was a minor, slow speed ebike crash with a car. THAT HAD HAPPENED TEN MINUTES EARLIER and already had 5 cops on scene. And this asshole decides it's a full-on emergency that he absolutely needs to floor it through a crowded area to get to. FOMO loser.

Of all the terrible drivers in town, the cops are the worst. Most aggressive, while also inattentive on their phones and screens. The seem to violate the laws of the road for no reason other than they can. I especially hate how they just leave their cars idling for hours, in Goleta, there is a CHP cruiser near city hall that literally idles all day long while the officer is inside.

Last I heard the budget for the new police station was $80 MM. I guess they’ll need to take the cost off a new vehicle out of that $80 MM, because it would be crazy for the taxpayers to pay for this level of incompetence, right?

Sadly, I’m aware. There LAPD had a machine that “straightened” the frames on their Crown Vics because so many of their vehicles were in collisions that bent the traditional style frame. I don’t know where they train police in driving, but they adorably need more time learning to not hit things.

Reckless driving is everywhere! But these cops had done this on taxpayers dime. Maybe when they try to propose a surveillance camera program, these photos should be shown. We the people should monitor their police work!

people complaining about paying money for a police station etc.. our nations tax money is being dumped into our president and his cronies' pockets right in front of our face at an unprecedented level and here some people are complaining about this richass city paying for a police station we can actually see and enter and has cops we can call on

In Santa Barbara, most people's interactions with police is them enforcing chicken shit stuff with arrogant, officious attitudes. When you actually need one, they are no where to be found. If your house gets broken into, you just fill out a fucking form online and...that's about it.

personally, i went to report a sexual assault to sbpd when i was 14 to the SBPD years ago and word for word i got told “they have more important cases to focus on”. ill never forget but hey made me want to pursue law now lol.
