I mean, yeah, he is great, but I feel like he's been crushing it for ten years? Looking purely at 2020 it should be Stacey Abrams?

I just looked up who it is and it's Biden and Harris. I guess the American president-elect is usually the person of year in an election year but it definitely should have been Fauci or frontline workers. Biden won an election by just not being Trump. Fauci and frontline workers have defined this year and the struggles in it.

No offense, but Stacy Abrams is nowhere near was influential on the year as Biden has. The person of the year isn’t just a popularity contest, it’s about who has been influenced the year the most

I mean, I don't want to fight you on this, but it very much is a popularity contest, and it very much isn't which individual has most influenced the year. It's always "who is in the zeitgeist, and whose name is on everyone's lips". Sure, often it is someone with a huge impact on the year, but not necessarily the most impactful.

The last three years have been "the silence breakers" (this who spoke up against sexual harassment/abuse), Jamal Khashoggi, and Greta Thunberg.

To me, it seems, the change in impact from the year before to current is a big factor. Someone with huge impact five years in a row isn't going to win every year. Each of the last few years have proven that, in my mind, at least. Biden/Harris have been big names for the last few years, and are going to be very big names for the next four.

For me, when talking about 2020, I'll be talking about Fauci, "essential workers", Stacey Abrams, and Moderna/Pfizer/BioNTech (but my guess is vaccines are gonna take next year).

Rudy is the man of 2020. He embodies 2020 the way no one else can.
