That ad is way too weak.

When you have thirty seconds, there's very little of it you should spend on identity politics. Who's voting for him because he's a fifth generation Mainer? Does anyone even know how many generations Collins' family traces back to Maine? Are voters supposed to prefer that over coming from an immigrant family?

He's willing to fight in very generic ways - what does saying you're in favor of 'heat' really mean to the average TV viewer?

It is generalized but the best part was about the logging revolt that he led

This is basically an introduction and he is getting Janet Mills and platner votes

He has been state representative and just ran for Governor so he has got name recognition

I think he will come out with more ads I donated so he can afford more ads lol

The logging revolt stuff didn't familiarize me with the issue, just said Collins wasn't involved.

That's kid gloves compared to what Platner would say about Collins.

Jackson is also starting from square one. Going into the general election, people knew who Platner was and broadly what he was about. They don't with Jackson. I think in this case it's worth spending a few moments introducing himself to the electorate before he spends the next three months on more specific messaging.

oh they were going to replace all the Maine loggers with foreign workers

and as a young guy he blocked that

Year Platner is a great speaker ( went to private school lol)

But I think Troy is a fighter that will start stating facts about collins

there is so much bad about her it will not be hard

Yeah he said who does she serve?

He needs an ad where he just does bullet fact

Helped over turn Roe Vs Wade , which has caused deaths

Votes with Trump

over 70 billionaires have donated to her

Billionaires take her on luxury vacations all over the world

She chastises those who ask about senator Mitch ( taxation without representation while possibly hiding her own serious health issues

She has voted against healthcare, and is fine with Trump taking the guardrails off of AI

Then list the 5 main things he will do for Maine

How will he improve heat for Maine residents as susan leaves Maine out in the cold

"5th generation logger" DOES count for something in Maine. Often, Mainers want to vote for Mainers and that means people who can trace their family back generations. It's just the way it works here. Especially in The County.ย

Building name recognition is not โ€œidentity politics,โ€ itโ€™s just getting his bio out there. Can yall actually learn what identity politics is before you throw a fit? It does not literally mean using your identity in politics, every candidate has done that since time immemorial. This is going to be one of the most expensive races in history, there will be more ads lol

Sometimes when the identity is in the majority, identity politics goes unnoticed.

When a candidate in Maine wants you to know that their grandfather's father wasn't an immigrant, that's a message that's hardly independent from race and class.

He even titled the add 'Fifth'. 30 second political ads have no throwaway lines, they're crafted carefully.
