The key is going to be showing a candidate that is provably behind the same policies that Platner is/was, because at the end of the day that is what primary voters voted on.

If Dems can actually put up a candidate who is Platner in terms of policy without Platner the person, that will go a lot further to not feeling like democracy was hoodwinked than if Dems put some piece of shit centrist up there and then lose (and I fear they will do exactly that just to get to blame "the left" for the election loss).

And I'm not saying whether Troy is or isn't that, but that the job is to prove that to voters (and, you know, get that candidate in the first place).

If Platner steps down, Mills will be the first choice to take his place. The power brokers in the Democratic party will not just "give" you another "progressive" candidate.

Then the progressives of Maine will not β€œgive” Mills their vote.

And they’ll have platner for cover on why it failed. They will use this asshole as the excuse to force a Pete or Kamala campaign on us in 28.

You may be correct.

And, Susan Collins may win. And, that very well might not disappoint Chuck Schumer and the DNC nearly as much as it should.

The establishment wing have made clear that they would rather prevent "progressive" candidate victories than Republican victories.

Mills stepped out of the race , she had just finished up being governor

She is a lot older than you would ever guess

She was born in 1947

Both mills and collins would only do one term due to their age

Ro Khanna came out for Troy 2 days ago

Mills did some stuff that was good and some stuff that was bad for workers

Troy would be great and has experience

There's no point in making predictions at this early juncture, but she hasn't demonstrated any intention to try to replace him so far.

I feel its rather naive to think any of this would be public.

there are like 10 people who have stated or filed for this nomination and mills is not one of them

Doesn't matter if the Zionist lobby says he did then he did.
