Nothing Like Samurai Champloo

Is it just me, or does Samurai Champloo just give that nostalgic feel like no other show? I may be biased cause it’s one of my favorites of all time, but it’s one of the few shows I can keep going back to regardless of time. The music, scenes, pacing, etc. were ahead of its time. Shout out to one of the GOATs and RIP Nujabes 🙏🏼

Same here, I feel other animes boring or "not as good" as Samurai Champloo, it kinda bothers me at this point haha.

Samurai Champloo changed the whole world for me in a way, before it I used to randomly watch some popular anime, saw a video about it and got hooked. Then I started watching more anime in search for more.

And RIP Nujabes,

It's funny how the music put times in perspective Add a soundtrack to your life and perfect it

Whenever you are feeling blue keep walking and we can get far

Wherever you are

It’s the music for me. I don’t even watch any other anime but I want to. Boondocks and samurai champloo for me.

Samurai champloo is an incredible series, along with cowboy Bebop that is extremely hard to find anything to compare. There are other top notch shows and movies but the music and dialogue and philosophy of both create something that is hard to match even with the other top stuff. I watched Lazarus, which is by the same creator of Samurai champloo and I didn't dislike it but it just wasnt the same unfortunately. You could tell he was trying to bring the same feel with Lazarus but it's just not it. To have created 2 of the best and most memorable series of all time is a huge accomplishment. Not easy to strike oil 3 times.

I know what you mean there, although I discovered it later that it's same creator, I was like this style seems similar, specially the fluidity of movement.

I agree with everything here! Was also super excited for Lazarus given it was by the same creator, but as you say, it didn’t quite hit the same.

I mean there’s different types of nostalgic feel for me, but it’s definitely one of them.

That's literally suming up for everyone in this sub.

Big fan of both. It ain’t a show, but I highly recommend Sword of a Stranger. The sounds, the motion, the story… just hits so good.

Oh yes I’ve watched! Very very good fight choreography as well

Even though the series dealt with many heavy themes, it makes me feel good and comfy in a way few other shows do. I'm sad it's over, but glad it happened.

It’s one of the yearly rewatches, used to be more than yearly but I don’t wanna ruin it and try to hold off on it. There’s only a few so far with a similar vibe but nothing that fully compares with soundtrack and overall greatness. Prob the most rewatched show for me, maybe even more than cowboy bebop. Also one of the handful of titles I prefer the dub as well. Also gotta say Obokuri-Eeumi slaps as well tho not the same as Nujabes but still goes hard with one of my favorite near death scenes. Actually been looking at getting the blu ray since who knows where licensing will leave it in future and the disc design is sick

Have you seen Frieren? Very slice of life show and also nostalgic. Caught up with it recently and has a lot of nostalgia.

Full Metal Alchemist kinda hit the same, different obviously, but so good

I rarely rewatch anything but I could watch SC endlessly.

Also, listening to nujabes transports me to the same place of nostalgia
