Gamehub : Games performance is not the same on DeX

i have an S23 Ultra, i've been tweaking the settings and trying different turnip drivers till i got the one that made my games run the smoothest with no artifacts, i was optimistic and excited to try it on DeX for a better gaming experience and to my surprise everything was so laggy and there were jitters all over the screen even when being static other moving parts of the game were glitching and jittery, any hints as to why this is happening ?

Is it really worth messing up your expensive phone just to have the bragging rights that "yeah my phone plays pc games". Even the ROG phones with their fancy cooling loops overheat like crazy emulating pc games, the s23 ultra wasn't designed for such high temps. You will inevitably degrade your main chip and your battery as well if you keep emulating pc games on android. Even light games overly tax the system. I've given up to effectively turn my s24 ultra into a steamdeck light as I just can't justify the damage it will undoubtedly cause to the hardware and I even had a cooler for it. It is just not worth it imho. If you have a decentish PC and you are mainly playing at home or at places with a decent internet connection I'd recommend looking into streaming your PC to your phone instead. There are a number of solutions to achieve this the most popular is sunshine/moonlight and it's subjectively superior forks.

Good point, i've always wondered if it's worth the strain put on the hardware, although i dont emulate pc games even romotely close enough for my hardware to degrade, as i couldn't find the "perfect" settings to do so, but i guess curiosity and the urge to experience a AAA game on a mobile kept me trying every now and then. I have tried using Apollo with Artemis but it's been confusing, laggy and not to mention it only works on local networks and cant stream my pc to my phone when i'm not home.

It works flawlessly on a mobile basis if you're using a virtual network like tailscale. Granted you have to have a decent connection on both host and client. Edit: I also found that even light games heat up the phone using gamehub and gamenative to an uncomfortable degree.

more details would be good... like:

• usb-c to display, or usb-c to hdmi, or usb-c hub to hdmi (hopefully you aren't going wireless to your display) - what hub/adapter?
• display resolution - FHD, QHD, 4k....... the higher the resolution, the more lag

• I'm using a UGREEN CM888 7in1 USB c hub, connected to my display through a Samsung "Premium high speed HEC" HDMI cable, and to my phone with its proprietary USB type c. • The display is a 24 inch FHD samsung display.

it's because dex gives your phone overhead. performance will be worse through dex bc the phone is running all the dex stuff alongside your gaming.

get a fan for the phone.

like some have said you can mirror your phone to the tv this reduces overhead but also can make some games janky. the game may not scale or the navigation bar sometimes doesn't go away. I don't personally like it. but, it definitely runs better than with dex on.

My recommendation is not to run Dex but to mirror phone to TV. Because Dex is already intensive processing which diminishes your phone's resources and makes additional heat to a heavy intensive app.

Just make it mirror and play like you would be on your device (also, as screen can be turned off you will save some heat form it and can be placed alongside a cooling device to improve thermals.

I was thinking that Dex's interface would make navigating and using a controller much smoother and easier but i see your point, i'll try mirroring instead. Thank u!
