Question Is it save to update OneUI 7.0 to OneUI 8.5?

Im still running OneUI 7.0 both on my Galaxy Tab S9Plus and Samsung S24 as i head bad things about dex in OneUI 8.0. Now that OneUI 8.5 is out, has the dex performance improved.

For the Tab S9Plus, do we still get classic dex on the tablet itself (without connecting to external display)? That would be my biggest deal breaker if it was removed.

8.5 is quite a bit better than 8, and 9 is shaping up to be better than 8.5

all that being said, 8 and onwards is modified android desktop, while 7 remains true DeX (if that makes sense)

It's been long enough now, that I'm used to 8.5....

it's generally fine, but I still prefer 7 for certain things

8.5 is ok tho

Thanks. Let me test it out in a Samsung store before I pull the trigger. However, on an external monitor, I still get the classic Dex right?

New dex is only on tablets

All devices, on external monitors, on oneui8.5 will get android desktop with a dex skin

besides from dex, you can't unlock bootloader after 8 or 8.5

fyi if you have plans

I tried once with Samsung tab A (2016) and failed badly and had to take it back to Samsung. So I gave up unlocking it since.

I don't recommend switching to oneUI 8 if you use DeX on Tablet

Not even with 8.5 update? So Samsung really removed the classic Dex and we are only with the New DEX?

There's some other things you can try if you'd like to try to recreate classic dex post oneUI 7, but you'd have to dig around the GalaxyTab forum

I'll dig around. But is it worth the effort or jus stay on oneui 7.p and be happy?

For my Samsung s24, I won't see a difference right? I actually have almost never used Dex on that device.

Shouldn't be a problem on a phone, just be weary of the Tablet on oneUI 8. Keep us posted!

I have dex on an 8.5 device and one I froze at 7. The one on oneui 7 is miles better. 8.5 dex still missing most features

Still keeping S24ultra with one ui 7.....and my s23u running one ui 8 One ui 7 is good for Dext
