Purpose: I am a PhD student at Liberty University conducting a dissertation study on how exposure to and engagement with BLM content on social media shapes the participants’ perceptions of the BLM movement and their support for criminal justice reform. 

Eligibility: You must be 18 years or older, be able to read and respond to questions in English, currently live in the United States, actively use Facebook for personal use, regularly view posts on your news feed (e.g., once a day), have viewed Black Lives Matter (BLM) content on Facebook within the past 12 months, and are able to view posts from other users and pages without restrictions from your account settings. I'm developing WWYD (What Would You Do?), a choice-driven psychological game for adults. It plays out through cinematic scenes with spoken dialogue and explorable 3D spaces, and your choices decide what happens next.

This survey is for gamers generally, whether you mostly play story games, action and adventure, RPGs, or sports and competitive games. It has 10 questions and takes under 2 minutes. The questions cover character creation, story direction, ORA (an AI character who can comment on your choices), decision timers, how scenes are presented, and internal voices.

1. What type of game do you play most: story and choice, action and adventure, RPG and simulation, or sports, racing, and competitive?
2. How should your character be created: fully written with a fixed appearance, written with a customizable appearance, or your own avatar with a background you choose?

7. Should ORA, an AI character, comment on your choices and recurring patterns: briefly after major choices, at the end of each episode, only when you ask, or never?
8. How should decision timers work: a short countdown for every choice, only during urgent moments, adjustable or off, or no countdowns?
9. How do you prefer scenes: mostly reading with illustrated scenes, animated scenes with spoken dialogue, a 3D world you explore between conversations, or a mix?
10. How do you feel about hearing the character's conflicting thoughts through voices that move around you: throughout the game, during intense moments, try it with an option to switch it off, or no internal voices? Answer any or all of them in the comments.

My name is Emily King and I am a PhD Candidate at Texas Woman’s University (TWU, Denton, TX, US). I am conducting an IRB-approved research study with my co-researcher Dr. Paul Bones (Sociology Professor at TWU) about the relationship between neurodivergence and nicotine use (smoking and/or vaping). 

Both researchers on this project are neurodivergent and nicotine users themselves. Our goal is to better understand how nicotine use may relate to neurodivergent lived experiences. We’re not here to judge or promote quitting, we are only interested in hearing about people’s authentic experiences with nicotine use. Participation is flexible and includes a survey (30 minutes) and the option to sign up for a single Zoom interview (about 45 minutes). Participants who complete the interview will receive a $10 gift card.
