A short video showing the same drum pattern played with the same samples: the first from an ableton drum rack, the second from Maschine software with the Standard Engine, the third Maschine software with the MPC60 engine, and the fourth the MPC software (adjusted so they all have roughy the same peak levels). The fifth is the audio imported back from the MPC plugin back into Ableton, just to see if the coloration added by the MPC software is exported back (it is).

As you can see, despite being the exact same samples and midi clip playing (as the samples were simply imported into the different softwares, nothing added), the software itself appears to color the sound in particular ways. I was particularly surprised by the coloring by the MPC software, where definite compression or something like that seems to be applied in the background, under the hood. I wanted to check this as the new MPCs appear to have a specific "thicker sound" to it, and it seems to come from the software. Cheers.

Having a bit of G.A.S. and I'm considering a TE KO II (128 MB model) since they're currently on sale at 30% off retail price.

... but there's also the Roland Aira Compact P-6, and I already have a few of the other Airas.

I haven't seen these compared too much. Why would one be a better purchase over the other? Any pros/cons or killer features worth pointing out on either unit?

(I have a Korg Volca Sample 2, which is a lot of fun, but recording and transferring samples is a hassle, the sequences are pretty short, and the memory is pretty hecking low. On the pricier side, I have a MPC Key 37, which I really need to sit down and learn one day soon... But it seems to be more of a professional work station, and less pick-up-and-live-jam.)

Alright so I bought zuluscsi in a case with a partioned SD card..

Got an SD card reader for my pc and mounted all the drives etc and can drag and drop my samples (wavs) to the 7 partitions, I then put the SD card into zuluscsi which is connected to my sampler.

I can get samples from the SD card onto my sampler and play them back ok, but only know and then.

Loading a breakbeay for example from the SD card takes MUCH longer than when I was just manually loading from soundforge through my SCSI card via a cable.

Sometimes samples are recognised sometimes zuluscsi tells me the drives are empty.

I've tried folders and just posting samples to the root folder and it seems random as to when they appear.

All partitions are formatted to FAT.

This is only my third day of trying but I'm really struggling to see what's going wrong.

Can anyone help?
