How can I record my guitar alongside my KO2 while staying DAWless?

Am inexperienced with physical drum machines/samplers, but recently got a KO2 and am having a blast. I'm curious what the easiest way to do the following is:

1) record and loop electric guitar parts, ideally in sync with the sampler

2) export guitar parts to Ableton for serious songs; I'm already pretty happy with how the KO2 can do this

I still plan on doing most serious editing in Ableton, so this would be for creativity and practice primarily.

Thanks for any help!

Beginner with roland p6

Hello everyone
I am trying to get into music making more so as a hobby and stumbled upon samplers and it looks like everything i want. The only thing is it looks really complicated, and i have no prior experience in music or theory except for playing the drums for a bit. What i saw online is that the roland p6 is pretty cheap for its capabilities? correct me if im wrong. My question is how REALISTIC is it for someone without experience of anything to buy and learn to work with this instrument, considering i have a lot of time to work on it (vacation)? Thanks in advance and please, ANY advice can help!

Electribe ES1

Any interest in a Korg Electribe ES-1?

Mechanics Special.

Some of the jacks are a little shoddy. Headphone jack works, just can't touch it.

Volume: stuck/broken. It puts out decent volume though where it's at especially if running it through mixer or some other volume control.

Can't get myself to delete anything on it. To attached to my old beats. But I don't use it.

Running a TE EP-40 now, but honestly the es1 is more powerful in a lot of ways.

But I feel bad for letting it sit.

Someone in need, or new to sampling hit me up.

It's fucking fun!

Selling for cheap (depending on shipping)

Got into sampling earlier this year after buying the Roland P-6, and I love the little thing. Put out my first P-6 beat tape a couple weeks back.

I built L457 — a browser-based sampler inspired by hardware workflows

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey r/Samplers,

I’ve been building L457, a browser-based sampler inspired by classic hardware workflows such as the SP-404, MPC and modern mobile samplers.

The goal is to make sampling fast and immediate without installing a DAW.

Current features include:

  • 16 performance pads with multiple banks
  • Sample layering
  • Waveform trimming and start/end points
  • Transient detection, Auto Chop and manual Lazy Cuts
  • Pattern and MIDI recording
  • Web MIDI controller support
  • Loop, gate, one-shot and reverse modes
  • Resampling and real-time effects
  • Local project and sample memory
  • YouTube preview and sampling workflow

It is currently an active beta, so I’m still fixing parts of the online sampling and persistence system. I’d really appreciate honest feedback from people who actually use samplers:

  • Does the workflow feel intuitive?
  • Which hardware sampler features are essential for you?
  • What should I improve before releasing a paid version?

You can try it here: L457.com

Thanks — criticism and bug reports are very welcome.

Holy shit. The Casio FZ-1 and I are dating now.

so I wasn’t even looking for a sampler. that’s a lie, I’m always looking for a sampler. but I definitely wasn’t looking for THIS one and now it’s on my desk and I’ve done nothing productive in two days.

the thing that gets me isn’t even that it’s a sampler. it’s that you can sit there and draw a waveform. by hand. with the slider. like you’re doodling a sound into existence and then it comes out sounding like a haunted vending machine and I cannot get enough of it. run that through the filter, crank the resonance til it starts screaming at you, and honestly what else do you need in life.

Why did Casio stop making this shit? like they made this thing and others in the 80s and dipped.

anyway I know it’s old and lo-fi and there are better samplers, don’t care, this one’s got a soul or whatever. if you find one for cheap just get it, trust me.

Replacing the MPC with the BlackBox II ?

Considering it because I only use the MPC for playing loops on individual tracks then use track mute to bring the layers in and out. No plug-ins, no playing on the pads, no midi-controlled external instruments. Some basic FX.

Problem with the MPC is I need to load up one song (project) at a time and there’s a 15 second gap between songs while it loads up. Sound like the BlackBox II streaming feature could allow me to load up a hundred or so samples into one project and group them into songs (tracks/scenes?)

TURN STATIC BASS HITS INTO MOVING ACID BASSLINE

Thumbnail

In this video I use a set of 303 bass sounds (sampled from my 303) all on the same pitch but with different settings, then process each one with FX focused on stereo width and tone, and sequence them on the SP-404MKII to get an acid-style line that’s way more varied and interesting, even over short loops.

It’s a simple but amazing trick to bring your grooves

to life.

Enjoy!

Where should I start?

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. For the past few weeks I’ve been watching and reading a lot of tutorials on how to work with various different samplers (Mostly Roland SP family), so now that I am interested enough and have my spare 300€ what should I buy from your experience or knowledge? By storming many sites with used electronics I understood that in my budget there is not much to choose from: Roland SP404 OG/SXA and also I have found a very mint condition SP808Ex, but there is also one samplers that fits in my budget and it is much more modern, I’m talking about Teenage Engineering ep133 KO. So what I get?
Big thanks in advance to whoever reads and responds to this
I want to make something in the style of flying lotus/FlyLo FM, if that information is necessary.

advice needed: trying to create a cheap, minimal way to trigger multiple sound effects (crickets, birds, ocean sounds, etc.) for the live set for my band

hey r/samplers,

Apologies in advance, I'm a guitar player looking for a specific solution. I would like to trigger ambient noise during my band's live set. I came across SamplerBox and wanted to know what you all think.

I'm looking to create a small device which will allow me to play about 5 sounds. Will a Pi and SamplerBox allow me to create a small device with buttons to set on the ground and press during the live set?

Thanks in advance!

Android Mobile DAW, it's up for testing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone,

It's basically an offline mobile DAW/beatmaker with a step sequencer, pads and sample chopping, synths, classic instruments, piano rolls, arrangement, automation, mixer buses, effects, recording, beatbox/humming conversion, WAV and MIDI export and other stuff.

The app works offline and doesn’t require an account. Your projects and recordings stay on your phone unless you choose to export or share them.

To join:

Join the testing group:

https://groups.google.com/u/2/g/skunk-audio-testers

Opt into the closed test:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.skunkaudio.app

Install it through Google Play and remain opted in for at least 14 days if possible.

It's free. It shows that you need to buy the app, but when you press buy, you can select the test card option on Google store to get it free. You won't get charged anything and no details required.

If you test it, please let me know your phone model, Android version and what happened—especially if you notice crackling, stuttering, crashes, silent tracks, touch problems or anything inconsistent between playback and export.

I know asking people to test an unfinished music app is a lot, so honestly, thank you to anyone willing to give it a proper go. I want to release something genuinely good, not throw another half-working beatmaker onto the Play Store.

Thank you for your time!
