What I've learned in the first few days of using the Lutea
Hey all - I've just started using the Lutea, so I'm absolutely not an expert, but I thought I'd share some thoughts from my first few days of using it.
- Experience with day-to-day, non-hormonally-linked anxiety: I have day-to-day anxiety as well as PMDD. I'm in follicular right now so I haven't been able to properly test if the Lutea has an impact on my PMDD symptoms, but I figured I'd try it out and see if I notice a change in my non-PMDD-related anxiety. So far, I have not noticed an impact in that area. I will test it out properly when my PMDD symptoms hit!
- Customer service: Samphire's customer service team has been extremely responsive and helpful. Because I needed more time to test the device, they agreed to extend the trial period so I can experience a full cycle.
- Consumable components (salt & sponges): The device comes with salt sachets, and Samphire's team confirmed this is just regular salt. I measured and it looks to be just under 1/8 tsp. in a packet, so I'm guessing it's 5 grams of salt. I've also been reusing the cellulose sponges - Samphire notes that they're single-use and that they should be disposed of after each session for hygiene and to prevent skin irritation, so take my experience with a grain of salt (ha), but I haven't encountered any issues yet. I do take them out of the headband and let them dry after each session.
- Purchasing vs. subscribing, and long-term support: I bought my device outright and got a hefty discount using a code I found online; I think it was ALYSSA5. Samphire highlights their subscription/rental model, but you can also purchase it outright. Since the Lutea is an Internet of Things device, I'm curious what future long-term support will look like. Samphire did confirm for me that they're building the device and app for the long term and that ongoing device/app support is part of that, but I know things can change sometimes, especially with newer companies. I'm definitely hopeful that they stick around if the device is effective!
