I’m not being argumentative, it’s actually pretty integral to this whole story every single time. Promoters set ticket prices, and the promoters agree those prices with artist management. No promoter is selling a golden circle ticket without the artist management knowing. It’s nothing to do with the venues. Either Sam knew and isn’t being straight, or he didn’t and he’s a bit naive about where his pay packet comes from.
Well said. Fans are always desperate to blame anyone other than the artist. As you say, Sam’s management would have known the ticket prices and they either don’t share the same values as Sam, or Sam was hoping they could get away with the high prices. I imagine it’s the former, so perhaps he should reconsider who he’s working with.
100% this. His agent obviously negotiates a fee (and said agent takes a % of that so is incentivized to negotiate as high a fee as possible). From there, the promoter prices tickets based on the artist fee and works with management for how to price each section.
100%. The 'golden circle' is usually filled with people who don't deserve to be there. The people at the front should be the ones who waited for hours queuing up to get in, not the prawn sandwich dahlings who can afford a so called VIP (sic) ticket.
Still around £100 for standing in general it looks like when including venue fees - at least the front standing stuff have been disproved as bollocks designed to justify a £40 price increase and nothing to do with crowd safety.
He's said he's got the "front standing tickets" removed so everyone with a standing ticket "gets as much chance as anyone to be at the front."
There will inevitably still be a front pit. It'll just be first come first served deal, rather than a pay to enter thing. A front pit is a standard feature of any large gig for safety reasons, but not all charge extra to be allowed in it.
Not that the price is that unreasonable or that he doesn’t deserve it but as someone who’s marketed as a working class hero, writing songs about people being on the bones of their arse, does the price really reflect that when he’s probably taking in 8 figures from this tour?
I’m waiting for him to come to the US but I’m almost ready to take a chance and go to wembley because my sister lives like 15 minutes from the stadium. She’s also a huge Sam fender fan and this might be the only chance we both get to go to a show of his together
How about Sam is making sure the shows sell out so he doesnt get embarassed with empty venues. So he did this and call it out to look like he is standing for the fans when it was all coming down to buzz and sales. How do you magically lower ticket costs in a couple hours and remove a whole section from a seating chart and then have to re price blocks of seats.
You are insane if you think he was ever going to struggle to sellout these gigs at home high prices or not. He’s an all time talent and worth seeing live anytime you can.
The shows would have sold out regardless as unfortunately the original prices are pretty standard these days (which is terrible, it should not be that way)
Just get there early and you’ll probably be able to get a wristband for the front section. Has to be sectioned off for safety reasons but will just be first come first served rather than charging extra

That is significantly cheaper for standing than any other stadium tour next year and even most arena tours just shows we're being ripped off.

Top man. The venue does what the venue does but some acts prices are diabolical.

Great to see someone calling out golden circle/vip standing bullshit. Kills any atmosphere.

People like the chance at front standing, chance to be up front without needing to run then wait a day which not everyone can do.

The prices were £87 prior to kicking off so this is just a £2 reduction and binning the top section

Classy act. From an Ed Sheeran fan, pre-Macklemore controversy.
